I can't believe I'm asking this (lol), has anyone tried steroids for their pet? My vet thinks one of mine has cancer and said it shrinks the cancer and just keeps them comfortable.
Is it worth it? I wonder too if cats spread the steroid liking their fur?

My little old lady cat gets a steroid injection from time to time. I did read it is a treatment for cancer, as it reduces the inflammation and helps them feel better, but is not curative.
She has arthritis in her hip, is impossible to pill/medicate, and incredibly keen if I add the most benign flavorless substances to her food. To keep her comfortable getting an occasional steroid shot seems pretty worth it, in our situation.
If you mean by spreading the steroid if it could cause effect to their humans, I wouldn't think so, whether it is an oral or injection.

Thanks gz!
My friend's cat was coughing horribly and the only thing that worked was prednisone pills. I am so anti steriods but it sounds like it makes them comfy for a while.
