Does anyone have a sugar free, gluten free brownie recipe? My family all has lyme and we miss dessert!

I just enjoy a good dark chocolate with raw(ish) sugar. The 80% Panama Extra Dark by Equal Exchange works for me. Check out the Equal Exchange website for their ingredient list and see the kind of sugar they use. Their facility / process is also certified GF. They also have a pretty good 88%.

America's Test Kitchen "The How Can It Be Gluten Free" cookbook is good but their baked items do contain sugar.

You might cross search for "gluten free brownies" "apple sauce" or with "honey" or "stevia" as a search term but, IMO, that will throw off the consistency and just stevia can taste very odd.

You might check out a diabetes / celiac forum for ideas. But even the dark chocolate I mentioned can be enjoyed by many with diabetes as long as planning occurs for balance.

Even for those on antibiotics for whom candida overgrowth can be a problem, I have found that if eaten after a meal and with something like Olive Leaf Extract taken 3 x day, the very dark chocolate can work very well, indeed. Same with dark berries / cherries.

Certified Organic Maple Sugar or Maple Syrup also is an option for it is metabolized in the body differently than processed white sugar. And a very little can go a long way to sweetness. Some good medical research lately on this.

If you use honey, a little bit might work, too, but be certain - absolutely certain it is honest honey, so much is adulterated. Trace it and be sure it's organic, too. A very tiny amount with apple sauce might work well in brownies but my guess is that someone has done this already.

Baking has to be so precise to get the desired effect. That's why I just stick with the dark chocolate and also with sweet potatoes for dessert sometimes.

I also have zero baking skills and have tried and tried with many failures over years - and just found other ways to enjoy sweetness, mostly with dark berries / cherries, yogurt & actual chocolate in small amounts to melt in mouth and last longer.

Where I live once in a while, I can get these at the grocery. Check out their low sugar content and maybe see if there are any similar near you:

but they add chocolate chips with sugar in them. There are various black bean brownie recipes out there - and Bob's Red Mill makes a good black bean flour.

You might check out the blog posts for the celiac section of Bob's Red Mill. They also make a good Gluten Free 1:1 Baking Flour (a mix but with zero sugar).

I have found that their cake / brownie MIXES are not possible with so much added sugar. Same with all the GF mixes out there. No way.

Still, you might find some good recipes at his site that others post.
