"Hear ye, hear ye," this week's exercise thread is now open for your comments.
Come tell us about your movements: walking, swimming, raking, vacuuming, laundry etc. All are welcome here.
I did my balance exercises and a lot of stretching.
I walked 18 minutes. Beautiful autumn day with sunshine and great fall foliage.
Up and down the stairs several times to do laundry.
Have a super week. Move safely! Posted by no_lyme_in_florida (Member # 5537) on :
I did something today that I haven't done in a long time. An old friend from H.S. moved back to the Ft. Myers area recently after being gone for the last 30 years.
He has been asking me to lunch or to hang out for awhile on a regular basis and I have been turning him down due to not feeling well. This morning he called and I felt really, really good so we went to lunch at a local popular restaurant that has really good food.
I felt comfortable the entire time we were there and was able to eat some Mahi Mahi tacos without having any kind of reaction at all. It's a beautiful day here in SW Florida so we sat and ate on the patio they have. He had seen me about a year ago when I was very sick and said that how I looked and talked now compared to then was like night and day.
I literally cannot remember the last time I felt this well and happy. I am going to the pool now for a bit and swim a little, then doing some laundry before watching the Astros-Nationals game tonight.
I have increased my dose of disulfiram from 50 to 100mg's with no problems. I started on this dose two months ago and could barely function and had to decrease it to 25mg's for awhile, so again I am more and more hopeful that I am on a path to recovery.

Just got back from the pool and the water felt great. Starting my laundry now.
While the laundry is going I am going to fix some Ronzoni Super Greens Pasta, and have it with some EV Olive Oil and a little parmesan cheese. The box says it has 3 servings of vegetables per portion.
My mom has been passed away for about 5 years now, but she is surely smiling, for when I was a little tyke any vegetables that were placed in front of me were thrown on the floor in a tantrum.
I have been meaning to post this link that someone had in a thread on the medical forum. I know that several of us have seen Dr. C, and there are some things listed from a talk at a Medical forum he spoke at. You have to scroll down a little bit. It may have already been seen, and it looks like it is from 2015, but I always enjoy seeing anythiong published by Dr. C.
I am trying to be a turtle and not a rabbit in my present treatment as Dr. C always stressed.

Shoulder exercises, balance exercises and stretching today.
Put away lawn furniture. Chance of snow tomorrow night.
Waterproofed my winter boots.
Waiting at chiropractor now. Back bothering me again perhaps due to leg squats.
AK-are you back from Atlanta?

"I am trying to be a turtle and not a rabbit in my present treatment as Dr. C always stressed."
HAHA! I remember that one well!!
Yes, your mom would indeed be proud!! My mom has been gone for 14 years now. Sigh.
Hiker .. at least maybe you have found the source of the back pain. Maybe. Hope the chiro helps again.
Last night was Game 5 of the World Series and I SO wanted to see the game. I had signed up to see a show that night .. so I went. Either way, I had to pay for it.
It was very lackluster. Blah!! I was able to check the scores during the show. I thought no worries, I'll watch it when I get home.
NOPE!
I had failed to record it. Thought I had it ready. All I got was the pregame. So I finally taped it today at 1pm. I'm getting ready to watch the tape.
I went for traction this morning as well as the shoulder PT. Then I got my haircut.
Darn .. I think the replay is abbreviated. I wanted to see ALL of it!
My feet are in bad shape. Not too happy about that. I've been in this position before and this is not good.
I hope AK is doing OK .. LPkayak is still kicking for those who are wondering. We stay in contact by texting.

Sorry gang, got home around 8:30 last night and have been trying to catch up on some rest. Studied this afternoon and finished up around 7:00 this evening.
Hiker thanks again for getting us going this week. Didn't go to Zumba today and just did my home PT. Can't believe that it might snow in your neck of the woods! I wore shorts and a t-shirt down here today.
TuTu what I wouldn't give to have some neck traction therapy! Sorry to hear about your aching footsies! Hope you get some relief soon. Thanks for filling us in on Kayak.
NoLyme how wonderful that you were able to go to lunch with a friend. Sounds like you're getting your life back in bits and pieces. Am sorry about the passing of your mother but I think you're right about her being happy that you're eating your veggies!
Time to play a computer game! Night all!
Been having this weird back of the head pain since Thursday. Hurts more with movement and it's on the side where I have a neck injury so hoping it's muscle related. Took a pain pill and muscle relaxer last night and it didn't help at all so trying Ibuprofen.

AK- hope you get pain relief soon. Studying will cause pain. 😆
Shoulder exercises and stretching this morning.
Quick run to Kroger.
Balance Therapy this afternoon. Wore me out.
Bought a cute pair of practice blue shoes. Now I need a good pair of tennis shoes.
Dropped off some shoes that I hardly wore to local mission.
Never got out of the 30’s today.

Hi everyone! Just my home PT and skipped the Y. Tried to get some studying done today but only managed to slog through 3 courses. My brain has gone on strike so I'm vegging and watching a holiday chick flick.
Head is still bothering me and I hope I'm not getting my Mom's cold.
Hiker your high for the day was in the 30's? OMG! Snow heading your way? It's rainy here and cooler and reminds me of an AK summer day! I found a great deal on Amazon on a pair of Merrells for about $60. They weren't a popular color (gray) so they were cheaper. Good luck with the shoe shopping!
See everyone tomorrow!

I'm here...watching the World Series!!
Going to the podiatrist tomorrow.
take care, everyone!

I did my shoulder rehab exercises, back stretches and balance exercises.
Went in the pouring rain to get a haircut. Threw a poncho over my winter jacket so I wouldn't get soaked. Too windy for an umbrella.
Stopped at shoe store to try on winter boots. They didn't fit, so I ordered a pair of tennis shoes (SAS) brand in 2 different sizes. Hope one fits.
Did a bit of cooking--grilled pork chops.
AK--Good luck on your exams tomorrow.
Hope the World Series game tonight is a close one. I like the excitement.

I walked 3.5 miles last night, going to the apt. gym tonight before Game 7 of the WS.
It was 91 and sunny today. More of the same tomorrow. Will probably have to go to the pool and bear it as best as I can. In a few months I might have to get some long pants out of storage . OK, that probably wasn't funny, I hope everyone stays warm.
I have been putting off having a bad lower wisdom tooth removed because a year and a half ago I had some general anesthesia that caused a horrible mast cell reaction that left me sick for months and caused me to lose 50-60 lbs. I am worried about local anesthesia doing the same thing.
It was the Mast Cell thread by Lymetoo that finally explained what was going on with me after previous major events involving penicillin (Bicillin LA) and IV Vancomycin while in the hospital. That thread and the links in it were invaluable to me back then in finally figuring out what was going on with me.
Lymetoo, I know that you have said that you are on a Mast Cell Message Board, have you seen any concerns or information by others on what they do when they need dental work but are afraid of the anesthesia shots? Any help or advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

So far, it's close, hiker!! Go 'STROS!
FL .. Most people take benadryl and/or steroids before dental surgeries.. (any surgery)
Go to the TMS site to see the list of drugs to avoid and be sure to talk to the anesthesiologist about drugs that can trigger mast cells.
Vancomycin is a known mast cell trigger.

Home PT and arm routine then went solo to the wellness center for my Zumba class. Mom is still under the weather with a cold.
Head is still bothering me and feel a pea sized knot in my neck muscle near the base of my skull. I get this spasm from time to time from a neck injury years ago. The plan is to massage the heck out of it.
Hiker thanks for the well wishes for tomorrow! I finished studying a little while ago and am so glad I'm done! My poor brain! Enjoy the Series!
TuTu I bet you're sitting on the edge of your seat with the game and all! Thanks for keeping us informed!
NoLyme way to go on the exercise! BTW, that jab about the weather and pool was funny! I have problems with anesthesia too. Makes my blood pressure drop.
Well....gang, I can hardly keep my eyes open! Night all!

NLIF--I have no grudge against you for wearing shorts and going swimming this time of year. I know it is wicked hot there in the summer. I resent winter coming early here!
First snow of the season today. Just a few inches but very blustery and I did not venture to Bible study as it started with freezing rain.
Did my shoulder exercises, balance exercises, and back stretches.
Made multiple trips down the stairs to wash up summer sheets and quilts and put them away. Got out my wool blanket and down comforter.
Friends came over to shovel and then put in new batteries in my smoke alarms. I am not quite up to dragging the ladder up the stairs and balancing on it.
Congrats, AK on passing your exams!
Gayle and NLIF--Sorry about the Astros. It was a good game until the 8th inning!

Hiker, you are so right about the summers here. There are 3 or 4 months where going outside at 7:30 in the morning or 11 at night it is so humid you can start to sweat immediately. I plan my summers around air conditioning as much as I can . The winters are just beautiful, though.
Lymetoo, thanks for the info. I am not going to need general anesthesia, just some numbing shots, but I have seen that listed as a potential mast cell trigger which is why I was concerned. I will talk to my dentist about it and see what he says. I am also trying to push the extraction as far down the road as possible to give myself more time to get as well as I can with this treatment.
AK, I was glad you laughed at that, and from hiker's post above congrats as well on passing your exams.
I only walked 2 miles tonight, I took a little bit more than 100mg's of anatabuse this morning with my oatmeal and I could feel a little stronger herx than normal tonight.

Thank you everyone for the congrats on passing my exams. Had my doubts about being able to retain all the info to pass 5 tests but did better than expected. Josh's (nephew) idea of putting some things on index cards helped quite a bit on top of my typed notes.
Just my home PT today and after the tests hit the ground running to shop and pack clothes for my trip to Okinawa on Tuesday.
Through all this craziness found out tonight my friend's hubby has repaired Josh's car so we're heading up to Atlanta on Sunday to pick it up. Now Josh doesn't have to buy another car and can stay on track paying off his student loans.
Hiker love your determination to do all your home PT exercises! Also can't think of a better exercise than stair climbing! Snow already? If you have hot chocolate I'm game for building a snowman!
NoLyme look at you walking and herxing! Hey, let's combine the two and say you went warxing or herlking for 2 miles! LOL! Seriously though, that had to be tough! Hang in there!
Well how in the world did it get to be 2:12 a.m.? Sheesh! Got to get up at 8:00 for errands and a luncheon and more packing. Night all!

I went to the pool again (what else do I ever do, I've got to get a life), but I took about 140mg's of antabuse yesterday and I am feeling it, so I only stayed for 30 minutes.
I have been taking 100mg's but had a random piece of a broken pill from when I was taking 25mg's and decided to throw it in with my 100mg piece. It was the last random piece I had left in my bottle and I wanted to get rid of it, I estimated it to be around 40mg's.
I think I am going to rest tonight and not push any more exercise for a day or two since I am feeling this way. 140mg's is the most I have taken at one time.
I was at Barnes and Noble a few days ago and they had a copy of 'The Pillars of The Earth' by Ken Follett on their sale table for $3.99. I read that book in about 1990 and loved it, so i think I am going to start rereading it today or tonight since I am not walking or going over to the gym.
Posted by hiker53 (Member # 6046) on :
NLIF--Glad you could still get to the pool even if only for a short while. Hopefully the extra 40 mg won't causes issues.
Shoulder and back exercises this morning.
Went to balance therapy this afternoon. That is a total body workout!
Went grocery shopping, and ran a few errands including the library. Picked up a new John Grisham book called "The Guardians".
Went to chiropractor and am now home to relax. Friend stopping by soon.

Hello, Gang!!
The books sound intriguing. Maybe one day I will get back to reading more often. I'm rather addicted to TV and I can rarely get comfortable enough to sit down and read.
We have worked the past two days getting the room set up for our packing party tomorrow! It's hard to believe that the day is upon us!!
We've packed shoe boxes for more than 10 years. I think tomorrow is the 6th time we have done a packing party. That's when we went to collecting year 'round and focusing on donations, etc.
Shopping year 'round makes it possible to take advantage of sales. The party itself is also very bonding for all of us.
This year we hope to have about 25 people there to pack. I think that number will actually be higher, but it doesn't matter. We are on track to do about 350 boxes!! That's a lot for our very small church.
I just talked to the scheduler for the MRI on my foot. The earliest appointment I could get was for Nov. 11th!! Good grief!!
So .. hobbling will be the name of the game.
My shoulder has been a mess since Sunday. I messed it up a bit and the therapist worked especially hard on it Wednesday. OUCH.
It should be settling down soon. (Can't live in a vacuum!)
AK .. Still so happy when I think of you and all the testing! Woot! I hope your trip will be OUT OF SIGHT!!
hiker .. Thanks for the condolences on the game. I have some opinions, but there's no reason to expound upon them. We will be back!!
See ya later, everyone!! Posted by hiker53 (Member # 6046) on :
AK--Keep thinking about your trip. Have a wonderful adventure!
Did my usual shoulder exercises and back stretches along with my balance exercises.
Did a load of laundry.
Went to look at the condo at the Mennonite Residence Community. My neighbor, who is a former contractor, went with me. He and his wife are interested in moving there, as well. He agreed this was not the place for me. Full basement and I am trying to get rid of stairs where I live! Kitchen so tiny you could barely open the refrigerator. Not enough light coming in etc.
I will continue to wait as other units in this community are slightly bigger and some do not have basements. Hopefully as I get better balance and get stronger my patience for finding the right place will also grow.
Have taped the Illini-Rutgers game and am now watching it.
NLIF--How are you faring with extra Antabuse?
Posted by aklnwlf (Member # 5960) on :
Just a home PT day then ran some errands. Not feeling so great, have some pus pockets on my throat and must have caught what my Mom had. She started Amoxy yesterday and I started some ancient Doxy today that I've been hording.
I've been feeling sickly for about 4-5 days but have had my hands full with Mom being sick, tests and Josh's car fiasco.
So what I've been doing is taking liquid zinc and B's, EmergenC, D3, cold medicine and some herbal Japanese cold medicine with questionable ingredients. Haven't killed myself yet so if you all have any home remedies let me know.
NLIF sounds like the Antabuse is giving you a run for your money! Hang in there! I used to read Ken Follet in the 80's and enjoyed his books quite a bit.
Hiker there's a theme going on here! I've read some John Grisham too! I'm going to download some books onto my Kindle for my trip. The problem is deciding which ones. I love to read and now that my tests are done I'll have quite a bit of downtime in the evenings while on my trip.
TuTu sure love to hear about OCC and all the work that you all do. Your packing party sounds fun!
Wish I could take everybody on my trip! I'll be taking tons of pics with my new to me phone and can't wait to share them with everyone!
Time to figure out what to do for dinner. See you all tomorrow!
