For about a week, I kept signing into Lymenet, but couldn't open any of the forums, and kept getting "Bad Request." Then, I couldn't even log into my PMs either. I was totally upset, what with no warning Lymenet died??!!
And this right on top. of Pat Smith's death!
So, I posted on another Lyme forum, and multiple people said that it was up fine. So I deleted my cookies and history, and restarted the computer, and voila, here it is, thank goodness!
Moral of the story, if it happens to you, that's how to fix it.
As a PS, I was heartbroken, and thought, if I'd known, I would have found out how to reach some people . . .

Rumigirl,
A lot of us have had trouble getting in. I finally got in using the internet browser DuckDuckgo on my Ipad.
Now a few days later I can use other browsers.
I think some may still be getting that message of "Bad Request."

hiker,
Thank you.
Hmmm, I wonder if the webmaster has been contacted about this. It looks like the Computer forum hasn't been used in years.

Rumigirl,
I contacted a moderator but don't who she contacted about it.
The website needs a major overhaul but probably no funds for that.

I also had troubles accessing the LymeNet Flash.
The only way I could get in was to go to the LymeNet Facebook page. The Facebook site looks like no one uses in awhile.
But if you look towards the left side, it has a link to LymeNet.org. I clicked on that, it took me right to LymeNet Flash and I was able to log in that way.
I didn’t even know Lymenet had a Facebook page. Thanks, Bonnie.

Thanks Bartender Bonnie! Going through FB worked!

duckduckgo worked thx Rumigirl.
My lymenet app wont work though! I miss using it. Any thoughts?

Marz—I didn’t know there was a Lymenet app. Learn something new every day. Posted by Marz (Member # 3446) on :
Hiker, I just checked googleplay and it doesnt come up so I don't know wherr I got it from!
I've had it for years.
Posted by Rumigirl (Member # 15091) on :
Well, tonight I couldn't get on again, the same "Bad Request" on each forum.
So I tried Barbenderbonnie's fix, get on via Lymenet's Facebook page, even though that hasn't been active in years. It worked, thankfully.
Who knew Lymenet had a Facebook page??
But, yes, the Lymenet website needs work! And, yes, $$ is likely not good for that endeavor, unless it's a labor of love.
Who knows how many people have been locked out?
Posted by Rumigirl (Member # 15091) on :
I couldn't get on LN again last night, even through the Facebook page. But tonight, I signed in under a different URL on Facebook and got in.
Clearly the website needs work. I assume that would take time and $$. Maybe we could setup a fund to be contributed to for that purpose? Have the mods reached the webmaster about it?
Posted by hiker53 (Member # 6046) on :
I contacted a moderator and she was going to reach out, but I have done this several times.
Posted by Rumigirl (Member # 15091) on :
Thank you, hiker, I don't know why I didn't think to do that myself!

LymeNet is a non-profit so should have a budget for website maintenance.
I contacted the webmaster weeks ago about the issue (as did another user) but no reply.
This is not helping a forum that is already struggling to compete with other platforms.
Moderators, has anyone reached out to board members?

I found this contact for the president/founder:
[removed}
I left a detailed message...
Note from Admin: Please do NOT reach out to him at his place of business.
We are aware of some difficulties some users are having and are looking into the issues.

Also, in all these years of posting on this site, I never noticed the fine print in the left sidebar which reads:
"The Lyme Disease Network receives a commission from Amazon.com for each purchase originating from this site.
When purchasing from Amazon.com, please click here first."
(The "click here" button takes you directly to the Amazon site.)

While LymeNet is not for profit, please understand that there are barely resources left to fund an upgrade, or to even keep it going much longer.
I haven't checked the webmaster box in a very long time. I apologize for that.
We are now aware of the "Bad Request" error and the 404 error and are looking into it.
Thank you for your patience, and for your love of LymeNet!

Jennifer,
I also apologize if my inquiry caused issues.
Respectfully, if anyone had responded to multiple webmaster emails/requests over the last weeks to acknowledge they were aware of the issue, I wouldn't have reached out further.

You were being resourceful. I get it. I can't say that I wouldn't have done the same thing.
I do apologize for the lack of response.

Thanks for understanding and your efforts to solve the issue.
Question...does/would the Amazon link, if more widely used, help LymeNet significantly?
Looking for ways to help funding that doesn't impact already-financially-strapped members.
