Take a chance and come exercise with us!
Here we talk about our daily exercise. It could be as simple as walking to the mailbox. It could be physical therapy, yard work, shopping or cleaning.
Whatever movement you can do we would love to hear about it. Or just tell us about your day!
Have a super week! Posted by hiker53 (Member # 6046) on :
Had a hard time sleeping last night. Got up before 5 AM and paid some bills. Then went back to bed for several hours.
Ran a load of laundry and while it was in the dryer I took a nap.
Then watched my church service online.
Called mom.
Watched the Bears football game this afternoon and grounded.
Also read and finished up a JD Robb novel.
Got out some warmer pj's and threw a light blanket back on the bed. Going to be in the 30's tonight.
Spaghetti for dinner tonight with a spinach salad.
Then maybe a little TV and starting a new novel.

Brr! That sounds cold, Hiker! Looks like it will be Thursday & Friday till it drops into the 30's here.
We had sunshine this morning, but after lunch it began raining. We needed the rain, so very thankful for it.
Some went to church and the rest watched church online.
Wrote 2 letters this afternoon. Have another two I should write. And 2 birthday cards to get ready. I need to order more birthday cards.
There were 33 saffron flowers today after 2 on Monday, 3 on Friday and 2 on Saturday.
Supper is whatever leftovers you can find for yourself tonight. Hubby fried some eggs and had a bowl of cereal. I was snacking on ritz crackers n cheese. I think there might be some baked apples or peach cobbler in the fridge calling my name......
Will mix up the sourdough bread dough this evening before bed.

Thanks Hiker for getting us going for the week.
You're getting some chilly weather there. It's still in the 80's here. Nights are cool though and I'm loving it!
Manna my sister used to call leftovers dinner Catch As Catch Can. I had leftover chicken in cream of mushroom soup over brown rice that I made at Josh's on Thursday.
I did my lower leg stretches and the sit to stands today. Elbow is still sore but getting better.
I spent a few hours studying and taking notes for my continuing ed courses I need to maintain my insurance license. It's tough going. I started an annuities course today.
Chatted with my neighbor and then Josh on the phone. Told them both I was studying so thankfully the calls weren't too long.
Going to play a game on my tablet then going to bed.
See you all tomorrow!

Ak—good for you for keeping up your insurance license. I know it is a lot of work.
I turned my heat on this morning. I’m not used to the house being below 65° when I get out of the shower. I guess it’s that time of year again.
I did,my knee, feet, and ab exercises.
Then I went outside and pulled up all of my marigolds and saved the seeds in an envelope. I had so many Marigolds this year they filled up the entire 65 gallon landscape waste bin that I have.
So once that bin was full, I couldn’t do any other yard work that I wanted to do because I needed that bin. But that was probably good because the winds increased to 40 mph gusts.
Then I wrote the exercise bike almost 40 minutes. I was listening to a Christian podcast and forgot about the time. My legs may be sore tomorrow.
Chatted with my mom for quite a while.
Read and grounded.
I grilled turkey burgers for dinner and made a small spinach salad and steam some snow peas. Probably will have the same thing tomorrow night.
Took the landscape waste bin, and the garbage bin to the curb.
I am watching a little bit of TV now and then plan to read. I’m watching the Mariners Blue Jays baseball game. It determines which one of them will face the Dodgers in the World Series.

Did the washing today and baked the bread.
Collected 44 saffron flowers!
When I went out to do chores this evening both of the young chickens were outside the fence. I forgot to clip their wings, so they probably flew over the fence.
One of them is back in the chicken house the other must have hidden somewhere.
I had to go out again after dark to pen everything up. One was roosting on the extention cord we have running up to the chicken house for the lights. But she flew off before I could grab her. She was just above my head.
Supper was diced potatoes, french green beans, chicken n gravy, pickles, and fresh bread with butter n jelly.
Hubby sawed more logs. Son helped stack the lumber to dry. They are drawing up the plans to build the shop. Son is deciding if he can take off work on Wed to get more done here.
Not ready for time to change - then its dark when the boys get home from work, so very little outside projects can get done then. Maybe we need to invest in some lights.......

I did my balance, shoulder and ab exercises.
Went grocery shopping. Salmon was on sale! I bypassed the chips on-sale but caved at the on-sale Klondike ice cream bars. Eggs were $5.99 a dozen. Skipped those, too.
Filled the bird feeders.
Rode the exercise bike for over 30 minutes as it was too windy to go for a walk. It barely made it to 50* today.
Took a 30 minute power nap after lunch.
Called mom.
Did a little bit of cleaning.
Read and grounded.
Repeating last night's dinner tonight and then watching a little TV and reading.

Today was a busy day! Up at 8:00, showered, got ready to start the day. Took myself to BK for breakfast then knocked out some grocery shopping.
Once home I put away the groceries and had 4 crackers with hummus and half a cucumber for lunch.
Headed to Josh's to dog sit for the afternoon. I brought a small bag of new yellow and red potatoes, 2 cucumbers, a tomato, 2 butterflied pork chops and 2 pumpkin croissants.
So I whipped up dinner while there. Boiled the potatoes, made a cucumber tomato salad, sliced up some of Josh's carrots and sauteed those in olive oil and salt.
He's got a great Ninja grill/airfryer/oven, etc. That thing does it all! I was happy that I could grill the porkchops.
I played with Juno outside throwing her chewy and playing tug-of-war with her. Needless to say she won every time. That was my exercise for the day.
Didn't feel so great after dinner. My side started to bother me so I came home at 9:30.
I have 2 MRIs scheduled for November 3rd back to back! One for my shoulder and one for my abdomen. I hope I don't have a panic attack! I've got valium and will take some form of alcohol too. Oh boy!
Other than that I had a good day.
See you guys tomorrow!
P.S. See the Dr at 8:00 and elbow PT at 2:40 tomorrow plus picking up our vegan dinner. It'll be another busy day.

AK--You have a lot on your plate right now.
Manna- We have a freeze warning in effect tomorrow night. Expect it to reach you soon if it hasn't.
Cool and windy here today. I need to wash off the patio chairs and small tables but I will wait until a less windy day.
But I got out my channel lock pliers to unhook the hoses. Guess I put them on too tight. I won’t put the hoses away for a while, though.
Did my knee and feet exercises. Rode the exercise bike for 30 minutes.
Cleaned the bathrooms.
Washed sheets and towels and remade the bed.
Read and grounded.
Pork chop for dinner with steamed broccoli and butter lettuce salad. A friend said he is dropping off fresh tomatoes tonight. Must be the last of his garden.
Then a bit of TV and reading as usual.

Put a birthday card & letter in the mail this morning.
Was planning to get a whole bunch of things done outside.
Decided to mix up a batch of cheeseburger soup to can. Which took a greater part of my day then expected. The canners with be finished in 20 minutes.
Picked 14 saffron flowers today.
Washed a load of table cloths.
Dug some sweet potatoes for supper. There are some whoppers out there! Some are big enough that 1 would be enough for all of us for a meal! Sonny doesn't care much for sweet potatoes, so doesn't eat very much of it.
Must go out and shut the goats door and close up the chicken house. 1 chicken was outside again. Left the people door open in hopes she goes in there. I can shut the door behind me and then open the door into the pen n let her in.
Supper was spinach/parmesan sausage, sweet potatoes sliced up in salt n butter & baked, green beans, pickled and bread, butter n jelly.
Tonight's the night to mix up the sourdough.
The boys had to work late tonight. They will get supper at work.

Sorry I didn't post yesterday. Josh bought me a new cellphone for my early Christmas present and for some reason it wouldn't take my login info to get on Lymenet. Weird because I used the same info on my laptop and got in right away.
My doctor's appointment was uneventful. He was upset that PT messed up and I had to get another referral for my wrist.
Saw my elbow therapist and she couldn't understand why they were making 2 appointments, one for the wrist and one for the elbow. She saw me for both.
She's upset that my elbow is still swollen and thinks my wrist needs an MRI and is more injured than they think.
Needless to say I'm to stop all therapy and just gently bend the wrist for my elbow and ice it afterwards.
The wrist she's more worried about and wants me to very slightly move it around and ice it too.
The cortisone shot seemed to help alot with my elbow. I'm so relieved.
No exercise today but have been studying for about 3 hours and am stopping. It's slow going with the 4 CE course on annuities. I'm about to fall asleep!
I might take a nap today.
See you all tomorrow!

Thought I would post my gym exercise methods. I go to gym once a week now but am trying for twice a week. I stay for one hour only.
I concentrate on my 10 favorite machines, all sitting positions. 5 minutes per machine then move on. I can do 50 reps per 5 minutes.
Links are not sponsored, they are the machines my gym has or are similar.
I have a set of 3 lbs weights and a set of 5 lbs weights. I prefer the 3 lbs weights. I leave the weights in kitchen and bedroom so whenever I walk by, I’ll pick them up and do reps of 10.
I bought a mini trampoline at a garage sale. Works great unless you suffer from dizziness. Be careful. They sell these with handle bars so I would suggest this type!
Great for back problems. Roll on your stomach on top of ball. It will make your back feel so good, pain goes away. I hurt myself the 1st time I tried it because I laid on my back on top of ball. Don’t be like me 🙃

AK--You need a functioning arm (as if you didn't know that). Praying for some relief.
BB-Looks like quite a workout! Hope you can go twice a week!
I did my balance and shoulder exercises.
Attended my women's Bible study.
Drove the hour to mom's and had a delightful lunch with her. Also talked to one of the PT/OT therapists there for an update on her progress. Some improvement but she is refusing to do some of the PT exercises with the therapist during their time together.
Drove home and filled the car up with gas and cleaned the windshield. It needs to go to the car wash again soon.
Grounded for 30 minutes while trying to balance the checkbook.
Repeating last night's dinner and then watching some TV and reading.

Hi Gang Well last Tuesday I decided to replace the leaking clacking donut gaskets on my truck. I wound up pulling a lot of the exhaust off the truck. I went in sat down at my computer ,got up and my back was terribly out.
So i walked 8 miles Wednesday trying to put it back in. then the spasims started OUCH!!!
A little better today only 5 miles. I hope i do not have to go to Cincinnati to my PH. TH. to get adjusted and needled.
Still have a small leak so i ordered racing headers for the better seal. MADDOG

Maddog,
Hope the back improves. I am impressed you walk that many miles.
And even more impressed you do all that work on your truck. If I worked on my car I would never get the pieces back in the right place!

I did my bike warmup and my knee and feet exercises.
Went to lunch with friends and had some good chicken enchiladas. It helped take my mind off the anniversary of my dad's death. Hard to believe it was 5 years ago and yet it seems like yesterday.
Called mom.
Cleaned and put away my 4 iron chairs and 2 small tables that are on the deck and patio. I just store them in the garage.
Read and grounded.
I am having a spinach-lettuce for dinner with fresh garden tomatoes that my friend brought me along with some zucchini and slices of hard-boiled egg. Fresh cantaloupe for dessert.
Then some TV and starting a new novel.

Hey my new phone worked! Must be the updates I installed today.
MD and BB you guys are killing it! Way to go!
Hiker sending hugs your way!
Well I was busy today. Changed my bedding and washed, dried and put it away. Also did another load of clothes.
Dusted and vacuumed my dirty house. Went and picked up meds and a few groceries and gassed up my car.
After working around the house my side was hurting and had to take a break.
Leftover black-eyed peas and brown rice, half a small sweet potato, collards and cornbread for dinner.
I'm pretty exhausted and going to find a movie to watch.
See you guys tomorrow!

It was 30* this morning!
Yesterday the 50 hyacinth and 100 daffodil bulbs came. Today I planted them today. Some in the back yard around the picnic area, some in the flowerbed. Some down near the creek and some by the leantoo. And then I crossed the creek and put a couple plots of them on the hill over there.
Brought some more plants indoors. Still have a few more to bring in.
Dug two more baskets of sweet potatoes. Have about half of them dug now.
Watered the indoor plants.
Put two packages in the mail. One a care package for friend who's father has cancer & his chemo isn't working. The other was the things left here when our granddaughter was here.
Supper was ham, sweet potatoes, green beans, pickles, and bread & jelly.

Ran a load of laundry.
Went to run an errand and the battery in my car fob was dead. Used the spare fob to go buy batteries for both fobs. Never did the other errand.
Replaced the batteries in my thermostat, as well.
Called mom. Then chatted a long time with another friend.
Lazy afternoon watching Illini football and reading.
Boiled brats and now will grill them and have one for dinner with a spinach salad and zucchini.
Then a little bit of TV and starting a new novel.

It was an over cast day with threatening dark clouds and cold temps so I didn’t want to leave the house. I forced myself to go to the gym and just get it over with. It’s only one hour right?
I immediately hated every minute. I stared at the clock the whole time. One clock wasn’t working which made me think I was nuts!
I started on leg curls as it’s the easiest for me. After 5 minutes, I looked at the clock but it hadn’t moved. So I did another 5 minutes and finally realized the clock was broken,
I moved onto the pull down bar. The loud clacking from the heavy weight room hurt my ears and startled me so I had move to different machine.
I headed to bicep curls and stared out the window. Next was abdominal crutches but I got dizzy with each downward motion so I gave up. Next was the calf machine but after 5 pushes, I hurt myself and stopped.
Went to locker and grabbed my coat and went to coffee shop then home.
Made chili and garlic bread. Already in pj’s , hee hee,

Manna send that cold weather down here! I've got fleas in my yard from the neighbor's dogs and Josh's poor dog is getting them when they come here for dinner. I read cold weather will kill them.
Hiker you had a nice relaxing day after your errands.
BB I'm notorious for clock watching at the gym. Course when I used to go I'd do my exercises by time and not reps. Walking the indoor track I'd check the clock every time I went by.
I made creamed chicken and canned biscuits for dinner. It's one of Josh's favorites. Also made a small casserole of sweet potatoes with butter and brown sugar topped with whipped cream. We had vegan cookies for dessert. So really we had 2 desserts.
I made dinner early so I can just nuke it when Josh comes over at 6:00.
I'm glad I did because while standing on a step stool to put something in an upper cabinet I hurt my back.
The pain was so intense and radiated to the front like I was wearing a belt....of pain! So I went to the walk-in clinic where they took a urine sample to culture for infections and gave me a shot of Toradol and a steriod.
They'll call in a few days about the urine sample and told me to go to my ortho since I'm going for my wrist and elbow. No pain meds just told me to take Tylenol and use a heating pad and take the muscle relaxer from my GP. So basically not a whole lot of help.
I swear I just can't catch a break! I used to be injured quite a bit from outdoor activities or skating, self-defense class, etc. Never from the simple stuff I'm doing now like pushing myself up from the bed or couch and bending slightly to put something in a cabinet. I'm beginning to wonder what's going on with all these injuries!
I'm glad Josh and Juno were here. Dinner came out so good and we both have plenty of leftovers. We talked and watched short funny clips on YouTube. Just a few scary ones but at least it wasn't a movie.
I'm debating on taking another muscle relaxer and a bit of a pain pill. I'll see if I struggle to get out of bed. This is ridiculous!
