Are you walking, doing physical therapy, cleaning, shopping etc.?
We count it all. So, tell us about your exercise or just tell us about your day.
Have a super last week of February! Posted by hiker53 (Member # 6046) on :
I watched my local church service online and then watched the sermon from the National Cathedral.
Ran a load of laundry.
Caught the end of the men's gold medal hockey game. Overtime and USA beat Canada just like the women did.
Called my mom.
Watched the closing ceremonies of the Olympics. They are on again tonight if you want to see them. 9 ET on NBC.
Grounded while watching.
I decided to save money and not go pick up a pizza so I am having an Amy's gluten free rice, bean, and cheese burrito for dinner with a romaine lettuce salad topped with zucchini and carrots.
Plus it is cold and windy out and I am too lazy to get bundled up today.
Then reading.

Watched church online.
Got a birthday card ready for my aunt.
Didn't let the guineas out until this afternoon. Shut the door again to keep the rooster in. When I went out to do chores, I opened the door to let the guineas back in. Discovered I'd missed letting one of the guineas out.
16 eggs tonight.
Supper was leftovers and everyone got what ever they wanted. I had pork chop n fried potatoes.
One of the boys from church came over and the boys are playing music on the piano / keyboard.
Listening to Ryan Hall Y'all -Live- on the snowstorm on the east coast.

Hope you all stay nice and warm! We're having a cold snap for the next couple of days.
I'm not doing well and will be calling my surgeon's office again tomorrow. I had called Thursday about not being able to go to the bathroom.
By Saturday I had some pain, swelling and tenderness around my naval which is getting worse.
Josh has his hands full taking care of me and little Juno going into the doggie hospital tomorrow.
She gets an xray tomorrow to determine how advanced her heartworm condition is and then they'll go from there.
I'm still hoping everything will be OK for us.
So not doing much but hanging in there.

I did my 5 minute bike warmup and then my knee and feet exercises.
Rode the exercise bike for an additional 35 minutes.
Made a call about insurance.
Filled the bird feeders.
Worked on Bible study for an hour.
Called mom. Then chatted with a friend for quite while I grounded. Texting is fun, but person to person or phone calls is much better.
Took mail to my neighbor. It was placed in my box by mistake.
Balanced the checkbook--a monumental feat!
I am having brats with green beans and a tossed salad for dinner.
Need to get the recycling bin and garbage bin to the curb.
Cold here in the upper 20's but warming up tomorrow although we will have high winds. Then the rest of the week looks halfway warm but snow and ice are also forecasted. ugh.

Snowed all night and all day, but didn't get much more than 2 inches. The snow melted off the walks and a neighbor cleared our road with his 4wheeler. The rest melted off the road.
Baking day. A neighbor ordered 2 loaves of bread, then when he came to pick it up asked if I have sourdough bread too? So he got a 3rd loaf.
Got the laundry washed and dried except for the load of table cloths in the dryer. Hung all the shirts n dresses on hangers. The rest is waiting to be folded.
Cold again tonight, but by Wed its to get up into the 50's.
Did you notice it stays light longer in the evenings?
Supper was potatoes, string beans, hamburger gravy & bread, butter & strawberry or pineapple jelly.
The children went to chorus practice tonight.

I hope talking on the phone counts as exercise! I did my fair share of it today and enjoyed every minute.
Talked with the nurse this afternoon and she spoke with the surgeon so I'll be seeing him on my follow-up appointment on Wednesday at 9:15. He thinks I strained to much going to the bathroom.
Josh made dinner after work that was delicious. He made teriyaki chicken, miso soup and I made brown rice. My Mom's bestie brought battered and fried green beans with carrots yesterday so we had that too.
For dessert we had a slice of angel food cake. I didn't realize the cake is low in fat and I might have to find some recipes and buy a bundt pan. I'd love to try to make a chocolate one.
I'm feeling a bit better since I'm able to eat. My tummy is not as sore but still swollen. I'm very hopeful that everything will be OK.
I've never heard of pineapple jam Manna and now I have to try it. My Mom loved pineapple. On the island of Okinawa where she was from they grow them along with sugar cane, delicious purple sweet potatoes and taro.
Hiker I so admire your diligence in maintaining your exercise routine. I've lost too much weight and all of it from muscle. I have little stickly arms and legs and a bloated tummy. A friend mentioned to start walking which is a great idea. I think I'll try walking around in the house tomorrow.
Anyways you all are an inspiration!

I went early to the grocery before the truly high winds kicked in. Also picked up a prescription and dropped off a library book.
Had to grab my garbage and recycling bin before they blew down the street. 45 mph wind gusts.
Did my balance and shoulder exercises and then rode the exercise bike for 30 minutes.
Tried to nap after lunch but kept getting cramps in my feet. So got up and had a bit of salt to curb that issue. I am often low in sodium.
Called my mom.
Even though the temps were in the 30's I felt really cold, so went and got a cup of coffee.
Worked a long time on Bible study while grounding. Then completed the puzzles in the newspaper. Good for my brain.
Leftovers for dinner and then reading and maybe some TV.

I worked on the crossword puzzle in the AARP magazine but it was to easy. The math and word puzzles stumped me though.
I took a shower and did a load of laundry. Rested the day away.
Josh and I had turkey and cheese sandwiches with canned soup for dinner followed by the last 2 slices of angel food cake and frozen blueberries.
We watched the state of the union address but it's running to late.
I'm tucked in bed and ready to sleep. Josh is waking me up at 6:30 so I have plenty of time to eat, get ready and call a cab to come and pick me up for my surgeon's appointment.
I'll let you all know what he tells me.
Goodnight friends!

AK-- I worked the AARP puzzle today, too.
I did my knee and feet exercises and rode the exercise bike for 30 minutes.
I went out to lunch with gals from Bible study. We went to our usual Mexican place and I had chicken enchiladas. Enjoyed our time together.
Filled the bird feeders again.
Called mom.
Washed my flannel sheets and put them back on the bed. Keep hoping winter will end soon, but we may get some snow tonight and then it will warm up for a day or two before another round of snow and freezing rain.
Worked puzzles, read, and grounded.
Having half a pork chop for dinner with a romaine lettuce salad topped with carrots and broccoli.
Then reading and some TV.

Thank God I didn't give myself a hernia!
The surgeon asked if my symptoms resolved and I happily reported yes. He pushed around the swollen areas and said he didn't feel a hernia. He did tell me that it'll take 4-6 more weeks to recover. I have 4 sets of stitches with the largest amount at the naval.
I'm so glad I didn't drive because I can't walk very far and have to take smaller steps. Also lightly pushing my stomach in with my hand helped too.
The doc also ordered a colonscopy a month away.
Josh wants me to stay longer so we'll probably go to my house on Saturday so I can take care of things at home. I had no idea I'd be staying so long!
He picked up sushi for dinner and we had leftover miso soup. He bought me vegan key lime cookies and I ate one but it was a bit much. I'm not able to eat alot at one time.
Hiker I'm so glad you enjoyed your luncheon. It sounds like so much fun.
Well I'm exhausted from my excursion today and have some pain around the naval so I'm in bed and will try to read a few pages before bedtime.
See you guys tomorrow!

Snowed this morning, then the sun came out this afternoon. Warmed up into the 40's.
Washed 2 loads of laundry.
Had my follow up appointment with the dermatologist. She feels its going well and just takes time. Also once the winter is over & the furnace isn't running so much, it won't be so dry.
Stopped at Goodwill on the way home and found a very nice stainless steel blancher kettle for $4.55. Its bigger than the one I have, and mine is an agate one that is chipped & starting to rust.
Supper was pork chops, sweet potatoes, peas, & cauliflower. Chocolate chip cookies for dessert.
When I went out to close the guineas door, Mt Opossum was in the barn, He immediately disappeared down under the floor boards.

Snowed overnight but has melted quickly.
I attended my women's Bible study. It went way over our usual time, so I didn't drive over to my mom's as planned as I would have totally missed lunch with her. Will choose another day.
I did call my mom, as usual.
I did my balance and shoulder exercises and rode the exercise bike for over 30 minutes.
Ran a few errands and stopped at the library to return a book and check out 2 that were on hold for me.
Read and grounded.
Filled the safflower feeder again.
I am having leftovers for dinner tonight and then reading and maybe watching some recorded TV shows.

Chiropractor appointments this morning.
Got a late start on baking bread. Its all ready to go now.
Got most of the laundry done. Table cloths in the dryer yet.
Oldest son made supper, chicken patties, leftover potatoes and peas. Also had fresh homemade bread still a little warm from the oven. Yummy! Strawberry jelly tonight.
Need to run out and shut the guineas door yet. Its staying light longer & they are staying out longer.

Still taking it easy at Josh's.
Little Juno is coming home tomorrow so I'm going to boil some chicken thighs, barley and green beans for her. I'll just throw everything in a pot and Josh can take the chicken off the bones when it's her dinner time.
We're so excited but have to keep her calm until she recovers completely from her heartworm treatment.
We had salad and chicken fried rice for dinner. I had half a cookie for dessert. Josh had 2.
We watched Unsolved Mysteries tonight. It's one of Josh's favorite shows.
Time to read!

Warm here today in the 60's but very windy. Nice to see the sun shine.
I did my balance and shoulder exercises.
Went to the audiologist for my last free hearing aid check. Don't need to go back for another year. She loaded me up with supplies.
Called my mom.
Filled the birds again. Lots of birds coming through.
Had too much caffeine this afternoon. Read and spent a long time on Bible study.
Cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen.
I am having meatloaf for dinner with spinach salad and zucchini.
Then reading and watching the Illini-Michigan basketball game on mute.

Wow! That's warm Hiker. That meatloaf sounds so good.
Little Juno came home today! She was so happy and excited when Josh brought her home after work. She's on crate rest for 4 weeks. After 2 weeks she can take 1 short walk a day and then back in the crate.
This morning I made her the chicken, barley and green beans welcome home dinner. Josh mixed a bit of her dry food with some of it. She loved it!
Josh and I had leftover pizza and a romaine salad. For dessert we had ice cream. I'm still not able to eat very much and had a bit of indigestion.
Josh is taking me to my house tomorrow so I can pick up more of my things. I'm going to stay another week. I only have 1 pair of sweats and the pants and top I wore to the doctor. Other than that I wear PJs.
I'm going to read tonight instead of staying on my phone. Back to my thriller stories!

I ran a load of laundry.
Did my bike warmup and then my knee and feet exercises.
Made a good lunch of baked salmon, steamed asparagus and half a baked potato.
Grabbed a coffee and sat and read this afternoon. Also worked puzzles in the newspaper.
Called my mom.
Leftover meatloaf for dinner with a spinach salad and green beans.
Then maybe watching a movie and reading.

Did a couple loads of laundry.
One of the boys is going with a group to Georgia to help with drywall and roofing houses. Leaving tomorrow morning & coming home next Sat.
Folded wash & put it away.
Watered plants. Sonny's lemons are yellow. Soon time to pick them.
Got the lists ready for the grocery store and the feed mill.
Sunny & warm this afternoon. The electricty went off around 3, so went out and cleaned off the front flowerbed.
Chatted with a neighbor who stopped by on her way to the pond to take her grandson fishing.

That's in my neck of the woods Manna! This coming up week the highs are in the 70-80 range.
Josh dropped me off at my house for about 6 hours. I had 2 loads of laundry. I could only carry half a load at a time even then I just kicked the basket up the wheelchair ramp (way too steep) to get them back in the house. My laundry room is outside in the carport.
It wore me out but it had to be done.
I also tackled all my bills and filled up my pill organizer for the week and brought regular clothes, all stretchy pants and long sleeves and one short sleeve t-shirts.
When Josh picked me up we went to the Taco Bell drive thru for dinner. I had a chicken quesadilla and a taco and a half cookie for dessert.
Josh bought a new video game and has been playing almost every evening and on the weekends. I'm glad he has a way to de-stress.
Well I think I'm going to read a bit before my night time meds kick in.
