So call me slow,,,cause i aint stupid,,,well maybe,,,
I have been buying some great meals called 'Hungry man' Salisbury Steak,,,which are WAAAAY too high priced and waaaaay too small to satisfy the hunger of dis guy.
There has to be grandmas hidden recipe for salsbury steak out there someplace.
The REST of the menu I can do very well myself, much better and much cheaper. Those ten green beans they put on the plate are an absolute JOKE.
Calling all domestic engineers,,,how do ya make it??? yoohoo,,,spill it PLEASE!!!???sadly--just don--

Oh my goodness, I know! THose TV dinners are disgusting and a joke anymore! I used to love the Swanson fried chicken dinners, but now they're awful.
Here's a recipe I pulled off allrecipes.com. You could also look up salisbury steak on recipezaar.com. I've found some good ones on both sites!
Salisbury Steak
INGREDIENTS
1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed French onion soup
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
DIRECTIONS In a large bowl, mix together 1/3 cup condensed French onion soup with ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, salt and black pepper. Shape into 6 oval patties.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown both sides of patties. Pour off excess fat.
In a small bowl, blend flour and remaining soup until smooth. Mix in ketchup, water, Worcestershire sauce and mustard powder. Pour over meat in skillet. Cover, and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
This sounds really good, and I may try it myself. Honestly, we usually just get the On-Cor version, which is okay I guess. But I'd rather make it myself and know what's in it, lol.
Happy cooking!

That does sound good. I might try that myself.
Thanks for reminding me to put gluten free flour on my grocery list.

That looks like a good recipe Starfall posted.
Got a crockpot/slowcooker JD? How about pot roast that makes its own gravy? It's not Salisbury in the classic sense.
You can buy cheaper cuts of roast and it makes it tender as can be.
Cook this on low all day, or high 4-6 hours.
A cheap roast, 1-2 cans cream of mushroom soup, 1 pkg dry onion soup mix (or onion powder).
You can add 2 bouillion cubes or/and worchestershire sauce and/or some dry gravy mix. You can add veggies also, potatoes are the best, adding carrots and onions makes it like Mom's pot roast.
.....I've never found a man who didn't like this stuff, but not bragging here, because I didn't invent the recipe. They scarf it up

instead of salisbury steak, brisket is a snap to make.
just buy a small one, cut off the fat. get a meat marinade (any brand will do). put the meal and marinade in a ziplock plastic bag and put in refrigerator overnight.
next day, take out of bag, throw away the marinade, put on your favorite bbq sauce and bake for 3 or maybe 3 1/2 hours.
easy and no clean up. lasts for a couple of days and makes great sandwiches.
oh, almost forgot, there is a cookbook that i think has 3-4 ingredients each and one that's supposed to be specifically for men.
mike can't boil water!!! when he wants food, i tell him it's in the big white thing where he stores his beer.....
