Still unable to hike, but dying to get out, I packed up the car with my camera stuff and headed off to Yosemite for the afternoon. I got to the park about 3pm and drove up towards Tuolumne Meadows in hopes of scoring some cool photos. My main objective was to capture the sunset from Olmstead Point. Unfortunately, I took so long at the other locations that I didn't make it back in time. I'm not too disappointed because I think I got some decent shots anyway and I was able to actually "hike".
This is right off of Tioga Road looking towards Mount Gibbs and Mount Dana with a cool little stream flowing by. The distance to the car was about 15'. The time it took to walk there was several minutes.
On my way back to Olmstead Point I spotted this location called "Dana/Gibbs View". It's about 30' from the road. My thanks goes out to the two photographers that carried my tripod and camera down to the pond and let me use some of their OFF Mosquito Repellant. Unfortunately I had to hoof my equipment back to the car myself. That took about 5-10 minutes!
Had to get this one as I was driving back on Tioga Road...
Reminded me of my last trip to Kings Canyon. Felt like shangri la to me. That was the year I got the tick bite. Now I only travel to doctors.
But one of these years......would like to go on the road again.
What do you think, Mike, of the prospects of reclaiming hetch hetchy?
I personally don't think they will ever win the Hetch Hetchy reclaimation battle. If they ever do, it will probably take a hundred years for the valley to return to it's original spledor.
Breathtaking...makes me feel better just looking at them, I can't imagine seeing it in person.
Isn't God's creation awesome!?!
