I drove by the San Luis NWR on the way to work Thursday with the intention of shooting landscape stuff...no Elk. Well I saw these guys real close to the fence so I couldn't pass up the opportunity!

WoW~
I almost hit one of those with my car the other day.....thankfully they watched me stomp on the brakes, before suantering across the road.

Beautiful aren't they? I'd much rather admire them than hit them!

They're really awesome animals.

Hope you're doing well...

wow, beautiful! you're an awesome photographer!

i'm curious, how did you get that clear-focused object, blurried background effect?

Thanks everybody!

I'm not doing really great...especially today. I've got a doctor appointment tomorrow and some serious questions need to be answered.

Heather, by using a zoom lens (300mm) and a large apperture (small "f" number), the foreground remains in focus, while the background becomes out of focus.

When you are ready to go farther afield, here is a website to show you some hiking possibilities in Glacier NP.

Works best with broadband.

Thanks. I actually saw that link on a backpacking site yesterday, but haven't viewed the slideshow yet.
