Most of you on this web site have had experiences with Lyme Disease.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to home employment? I am too ill to be employed at this point, but need income.

I dont have the links with me cause im on vacation.. but check out some home shoring options. This is where you work like a customer service/support job over the phone like you would if you worked at a call center but you do it in your jammies sitting at home. I know that all Jet Bue reservations agents take the calls from thier home and so do the people that work for AARP customer support.. Maybe you could do a google search for home shoring, or home based tech support. Many companies are doing it to keep jobs here, instead of sending the call centers to india..As far as equipment all you need is highspeed internet and a dedicated phone line..hope this helps..i read about it in a mag. article

I have worked at home for years now doing medical transcription for ophthalmologists. Only part- time, but you can work 40 hours weekly or just a few hours, you get to pick. I really like working only part-time.
All you need for start-up is a computer, transcriber, phone book so you can look up all the doctors' addresses to mail letters, a few other things like a stapler, desk, typewriter, things like that. And a typewriter can be bought on EBay for little money these days. In fact, I buy my ink cartridges for printer and fax machine on Ebay, also.
You are your own boss, work in a nightgown, shorts or t-shirt, work when you want, and the extra perks of being in touch with the offices you work with aren't too bad. I get a discount when buying new glasses and get free eye exams for family and myself.
I know it doesn't sound like too much, but it all helps with the horrendous gas prices we have to pay not to mention medications.

I used to work for a company doing customer service from my house. I worked for about 3-4 different companies who contracted through them. I had high speed internet, a corded phone and a headset.
I had to quit because my kids couldn't stay quiet enough. It was kinda fun and easy. Not much money but it was a little. I even got a $100 bonus once!

I will be watching this site also. I don't have the skills to do what two of the posts said at this time.
But, I know there must be something that I can do around lyme symptoms.

Do have any craft or art skills? If so maybe you can get some projects/designs together and sell or consign them to local shops.
I had been quite successful at this, actually had more work than I could handle.
Now I have moved recently and have to go out and find clients all over again.
For me this is the hardest part, making cold calls.

I second the post on medical transcription or medical coding. Every lyme patient is versed in medical terminology in our struggle to know what has attacked us and to learn more as we cope with the problems. Anything that uses a home computer and flexible time commitment is ideal. Good luck and stay strong!!!
