If anyone has any suggestions on ways of making an income that are suitable for people with Lyme, I would greatly appreciate it....

I have been trying to figure this one out since I came down with this in Oct. 2001.

I have good cycles when I think I could do something. But, they do not last long and I am reminded I am still healing and still pretty low functioning.

I know there is something out there.

I also know we are all at different levels of spirochete load, etc and functioning.

I know with me it would need to be something that does not have to be somewhere at a certain time.

It would need to be something flexible.

I would need to be able to do it lying down and for short periods of time.

It would need to be simple in task...one thing at a time.

And for a very short time frame.

I am too sick to do anything but I know others have sold stuff -

some people have become salespeople for a company that they can do on their own scheldule from home (at least for the most part)

like may be selling avon ...

or one of those lines of products that people have home demonstrations (but you would have to be well enough to make an appointment and keep it, set things up and explain merchandise for this) They have ones with kitchen stuff I know another company is candles (partylites - I think).

Avon seems easier if you can distrubute the catalogues to customers you think will buy take the orders, place the orders, take the money, and deliver the orders without getting things confused and it has to be done in a timely fashion.

- Just a couple things that I can think of.

90% of my business is conducted over the telephone....maybe more like 95%.

That would be great to find a way to make money, outside of working a job, which most of us can't do.

I used to crochet and sell things, but now my hands and fingers go to sleep to fast to do that, not to mention hurt like &*^% for days afterwards...

I clean my sister's house once a week and have often thought of doing that, but there is just no way.

Between her house and my house, that is way more than enough for me... Its hard even keeping up with them.

As for anything on the telephone, forget it. My constant searching for words these days make talking on the phone to even family and friends uncomfortable.

I had seriously thought about trying go back and do taxes for Jackson Hewitt during tax season this year, but I don't have enough days where I can think clear enough or focus on numbers enough.

But, it would be nice if I could think of something...
I thought about trying maybe to write a book on my experiences, but after reading what some are going thru, my life seems nothing less than trivial...

God Bless anyone who can think of anything or knows of anything..

Ellen

What about home typing? You could place an ad on the bulletin board at the local colleges for any type of home typing that you feel you could do, and only accept the jobs that your energy will allow.

I do home transcription for ophthalmologists, part
time, and, although, I'll never get rich doing this, it does help.

Years ago, I used to type for a local high school teacher his hand-written tests that he gave his students.

I hope you do find home-base work, and I hope others will come along with many ideas for you.

There are moderating positions for message boards. All you have to do is go on the computer and edit stuff out and keep it a fair, pleasant place. You might even get to be a mod on a Lyme support site! That would be great.
