awww,
Well Shelly, First congratulations on getting married. Sorry you are sick with this awful disease.
I am sure people tell you to focus on the positive things and it's hard. You are lucky you have someone who wants to walk this path with you. He must be a really special person.
Try and look at your wedding day with a warm heart and make it the wonderful day it should be.
Lots of Happiness,
Gael

A small beach wedding - Oh how romantic!!
I know it's not what you would've planned, but those big old fashioned weddings can get so out of hand.
Everyone thinks they have a right to have a say in the decision-making!
So expensive, too. It's like "Do you want to buy a house or get married? You can't do both!"
Anyways, don't let lyme rob the joy of your wedding day from you.
Best of Luck
Carly

I feel for you Shelly my wedding is comming in august and all plans have changed. I don't want to leave the house let alone be around a bunch of people even though they are family and friends. I'm thinking about eloping just the two of us. The beach sounds fantastic, after all it is just about the two of you uniting as one thats the most important thing. Good luck to you.

shelley,
what date is your wedding? we'll be thinking and praying that it goes well, and it's a GOOD HEALTH DAY for you.
my hubby of 34 years has NEVER KNOW ME HEALTHY! we married me for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health ... he has lived up to his wedding vows to me.
best wishes to you both! a small one sounds great. perhaps later when you feel better, you can have a reception and invite family/friends to it. Posted by shelly23 (Member # 16124) on :

Hi Shelly,
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! A beach sunset wedding sounds so romantic. Like you said, you can keep it small and that will be easier on you.
Remember that your wedding can be whatever you want it to be. You really don't have to follow all the etiquette that bridal magazines etc tell you is necessary.
I got married 1.5 years ago (pre Lyme diagnisis, but still very sick) and made it my own. I didn't follow the preset expectations because I knew that would be way too much to handle. And it was perfect anyway!
Don't let Lyme ruin your wedding. It will certainly change your experience, and it may not be what you imagined before you got sick. Do what you can, within your limits. Ask for help!
And just enjoy! After the sun sets on May 23, you will be married. Resolve to enjoy the time you spend on your wedding. It goes fast, Lyme or not. I wish I had focused more on the experience and fun it included and less on feeling sorry for myself that my wedding couldn't be 'normal' like everyone else's.
Sorry this is so long. It is very close to my heart because it is one of the most important days of your life!
Merry Christmas, Shelly, I hope you get feeling better and have the energy to plan everything you want for your wedding!

Shelley,
My number one son(by blood)relation had his wedding down here in Florida in March on one of the beaches south of me....
A whole lot of the family came down and I was of course already down here for a golf outing,
at that time.
I had'nt moved down here permanently at that time.
However, it was the way I felt down here at that time of year that convinced me to move down here.
Your lyme, if you're going to come down to a beach in Florida for your wedding,
will probably give you a break. So,
Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy!
Have as pleasant a life as you two can make it because, it might take a little work....
don't know you...but getting good "VIBES" that you and he will be OKAY!
Best Wishes zman

THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!! Your words of encouragment help............ I think the one thing, lyme has done for me, is to slow me down and "smell the roses". If I wasnt sick i would get caught up in the extra large wedding with the extra large bill.............. i now can appreciate what it is about me and him and that is all that matters:) thanks for encouragment and words of wisdom:) best wishes for 09
