Hi

A long time ago I was very active on this board, but I kinda drifted away. Latley I have been having problems with lyrics, drawing complete blanks. I was just wondering if lyme has gotten in the way ,or made more difficult too play.

Hey appleseed...

Sorry you are slipping with the lyrics. Seems I am the other way around. I totally.. not kidding.. totally lost the music and look at my instrument as if it were a foreign object never seen... but the words still come easily.

Hope this is just temporary for you.

Here's a musician Lymie!
Music is such a part of my soul that I always kept playing- That hardest thing was, needing so much help moving equipment (not far enough "up there" to have "roadies", though other musicians I gigged with did ALOT-thank you!)...). Of course the chronic tiredness and pain, as well as having to sleep so much, were really hard on me musically, indirectly. But "trials and tribulations" a;so give you "somethin to sing about", so I wrote some tunes I feel came out pretty good....

As far as remembering lyrics goes, well, one thing to keep in mind what Miles said: "all notes (and lyrics) are right". Get into the moment and kick out any anxiety that tries to sneak in.-- it's surely the Lyme anxiety that has alot to do with it! Good Luck!

A Note- there's this stuff called 'Joint-Ritis' that has like a foam or 'roll-on' applicator, that you can rub onto your hands, wrists, shoulders, and knees. I have a feeling it's a combination on glucosamine, controitin, maybe MSM, and DMSO, but I'm not totally sure. It was extremely helpful!- I never could have kept going without it. Internal 'Nutrajoint'(powder you mix with water) was also good but slower acting. And of course I took my share of asprin and ibuprofen, too...

I cant carry a tune in a bucket so I turn the bucket over and can keep half time with the music,,,beating on the bottom with an old dirty stick!!!!

i'm a singer.

it was definitely more difficult with lyme due to fatigue and brain fog issues, but i tried to keep doing it anyway.

since i've been healthier, it's easier than before lyme - i think continuing to do the mental work paid off as the body and brain got stronger and caught up later.

-- but i can't seek work because my son needs constant care. (so lyme is still getting in the way at this point)

keep playing!! when you can't do that, listen to your favourites ........... like just don!

I am a pianist and I can tell you that some days my coordination is good and others it's awful.

It's kind of hard to play when your left hand feels numb.

I don't learn new pieces as fast as I used to.

I am still good with writing lyrics.

I too am a musician. I write, sing and play guitar. As a guitarist I'm versatile.

I'm not the greatest performer, having Lyme and all, but I like it, so I do it.

Here is some performances by me:

I just played "Ithaca Festival" last Friday. Though I am probably always going have some proiblems, in general I'm getting better and better- pretty near pain free for many activities. And in celebration on Saturday, the wind howled and I went windsurfing! I appreciate everything so much! Especially everyone at Lymenet without what I learned here, I'd probably still be getting worse, if by some considerable luck I happened to still be alive...

Hi there [Smile]

Yep, I'm a musician!

I don't play out anymore but I still play and as often as possible. I have a studio set up in my house and record all the time. I miss the stage but at least I can still play and record.

Steve
