One possable explaination could be, 80 percent of all DX'd lyme patients are RA. Only 10 percent of all RA DX'd patients are male.

Female here .. but I am noticing more and more males around that is for sure..
I think it is something for a long time was not diagnosed,in men, as much as women .. such as in FMS or CFS. Not sure exactly why.

Statistically, more women than men become "autoimmune".
We gals don't "cool off" as fast as men do when "confronted"...we gotta talk it out...for hours.
Women have more fat than men. Men have more muscle which contains a LOT of ATP (to move) to which Mg is attached as Mg-ATP.
Some other keys maybe here:
"Let's take a look at what makes women so unique.
Women's bodies have 20 percent more fat, larger fat cells, and have more enzymes that store fat -all to help support the possibility of pregnancy.
Body Mass: Women have less lean body mass than men. Lean body mass is a measurement of the percentage of muscle a person has. This is important because muscle is what largely determines your metabolism (at least the part of your metabolism that you can change).
Thyroid: Women, more than men, have a problem with their thyroids. It is estimated that one in eight women (age 35 to 65) and one in five women over the age of 65 have some form of thyroid disease. A low amount of certain thyroid hormones means a slower metabolism.
Estrogens: Estrogen actually works to keep weight off, but this all changes in menopause when estrogen plummets.
It is also thought that normal monthly estrogen fluctuations can make it harder to lose weight during certain times of the month.
Insulin Insensitivity : While there are only slightly more women than men who have ***insulin insensitivity and diabetes***, the conversion of sugar into fat remains a major problem for anyone trying to lose weight.
(Me: That alone could be a key problem because all the pathogens love and need sugar as much as we do.)
Stress: Stress leads to weight gain. While the science behind this is a bit complicated, it can be simplified by saying the brain and the body are connected and when you are under stress your brain releases hormones that releases other hormones (mostly cortisol) that lead to an increase in appetite and causing you to overeat.
The important thing to know about this brain-body connection is that it is especially strong when the stress is constant and there is no relief.
Sleep: Guess what else causes cortisol to rise? Lack of sleep. There is a close relationship between stress and sleep: Most people feel more stressed when they don't sleep.
And quite honestly...in our society today a lot of women have 2 jobs: inside the house with the kids and an outside the house job while the husbands still have primarily 1 job outside the house. In many homes there is still not an even 50-50 split in "chores" or "responsibilities" -> increased stress for women. (My opinion.)

If you're taking a survey to figure who gets infected more, don't forget to account for a gender bias for posting here.
I don't know if there is one, or which way it would lean if there is, but the posting ratio may well be quite different from the infection ratio.

I agree that women are more in tune with their bodies and are more likely to seek medical treatment when symptoms occur.
When it comes to health issues, I think a good portion of men are more inclined to brush things off.
That's been my experience anyway.

I am amazed at the range of our ages. ...and quite frankly, our gender.

I had plans to grow old gracefully , fit and healthy . 4 years ago I was running 3 to 5 miles 5 - 6 days a week .
Every month or so I would get in a long run , then I was feeling to tired , then my knees were hurting , then went to just walking and now bearly able to walk .
My retirement and growing old plan is only a dream , no longer able to work .Hope I haven't rambled on to long . BILL
