Hi everyone,

Last evening my son's girlfriend, Sara, had a surprise going-away party for my son, Andrew.

He is leaving soon for a one year deployment to Iraq.

It was a wonderful party with family and friends.

He went to the microphone on stage to thank Sara and everyone for coming.

Then he surprised all of us by getting down on one knee and proposing to Sara!!

It was fantastic and she was soooo surprised!!

He had been carrying the ring around for a week waiting for the right moment.

I am very proud of my son and I am delighted that I will have Sara for a daughter-in-law.

My heart melted when I learned that my son had gone to Sara's Dad to ask his permission to marry his daughter.

I am very proud and love them both!
