I am having trouble finding shirts that will fit my hubby's belly. He is not a large person, so Big and Tall shops don't help.
I need dress shirts or button down casual shirts that are generous in the mid-section. Where would I find such a shirt??
He wears a medium or 15 1/2. Thanks!!!!! Posted by just don (Member # 1129) on :
Just go up a size or two like to large,or extra large
I am sad to say I have same problem.
I just went to second hand store and bought 6-8 shirts that were good as new,,for work and everyday,,,but they are as good as new.
I did wear one to a function last week. But for 3.50 bucks a piece I can wear them for quite a while.
In a couple months I can go down one size as I lose some weight in summer time.
Most of my shirts just get small across the shoulder areas. Cant believe how many sizes I have grown in last 10 years.
depends on where shirts get made too,,,some overseas shirts are made alot smaller.

See, that is the problem.. he is kinda small in the shoulders.. so if we go to large he looks like he's drowning in the shirt. They're also too big in the sleeves. The sleeves go down to his elbows! .. or maybe past the elbows!
I think I'm going back to the thrift shops and taking my tape measure with me!! He does still wear some shirts I bought there quite a few years ago.. and they fit better than the ones I've bought at the retail stores.
Thanks don.. I hope someone will know about a store online where I can find bigger shirts.

Yes, Lymetoo... that is getting personal...LOL!!!
Because the answer is YES!!! He is a lymie also and we both see our first LLMD in April - soonest we could get... Dr K in TN (???)
Both of us have gotten bigger in the middle in the last couple of years - and can't get rid of it!
After ovarian cysts, I gained 40 lbs (hormones & probably thyroid went berzerk)! And most here talk about not being able to keep on weight....
He is working and we are having a very hard time finding things that fit well. And a tape measure is a very handy item - I use one when we go shopping... quickly eliminates things!

Well I was thinking....my husband has a larger waist too. We match at this time. He thinks he doesn't need exercise because he leads active life and keeps busy. Oh yeah, I guess walking to the frig in the garage and opening another beer is exercise?
I love consignment shopping. I had never done it until I became disabled and starting worrying about money. Now I find my best clothes at used clothes stores.
Buy those expensive name brand clothes and they last for just a few dollars.
Back to your hubby Tutu and his larger waist. How about the shirts that are meant to be worn untucked. You know the shirts like Charlie Sheen wears on Two and 1/2 men.
They are usually loose fitting in the waist line. They can be dress, casual or sporty.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about map.. I think they're called Guayabara shirts. I don't think he'll wear them. He needs to look a bit more dressed up than that at work. He teaches part time at a local college.
Flower child.. Glad to see that you found us here at lymenet! Hope we can help you get the care you need!

PILATES!!! My husband let me practice on him when I went through teacher training and he fell in love with pilates! He's always hated working out but he's become fanatical! His "inner tube" is gone .... he just has some tiny love handles to work through, but they're almost gone, too. No dieting.
About half my new clients are men, they are catching on.

Wow! I wonder how many men HERE go to Pilates? I'm not sure he would go.. but if he saw results in others, he might!
I'd love to do it myself.. but .. I feel certain it would make my sciatica flare up. I can't do anything resembling sit ups.

Oh my aching back!!!! ;0)
I get my daily exercise by "jumping to conclusions", "running off at the mouth", and "when I get the urge to clean house...I lay down till it passes!"
All kidding aside, I would like to feel good enough to do more ... like Pilates (nothing to do with a bottle of Rum right? Oh, that's pirates...)
Tutu... I am SO GLAD I found you ALL here at lymenet!!!!

Lymetoo, the lady who looks after our farm, some time ago started Farmhouse Fashions and she custom makes or tailors shirts and I guess dresses too. I've seen samples of her work and it is very nice. Several years ago, before obama, she charged $20 + the cost of material. Only way I know to get a shirt made to the measurements you described. [email protected] if you would like her phone number.

Lymetoo... If you don't mind spending a little
and you have a Eddie Bauer store near you, you might find hubby's sizes there.
My sweety is short with a slight belly and this store is the only one we could find with the correct size.

lymetoo... did you ever find your hubby some shirts or is he going shirtless these days? LOL
Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :
Well, I found some at Kohl's that were a bit better.. but I'd still like to find a dress shirt that he doesn't look stuffed into!! Posted by kam (Member # 3410) on :
I find this thread funny. But, I am easily amused.
I was wondering the same thing the other day. There is a guy here at the apartments that seems to be one size every where else but the belly.
I wondered how he found shirts to wear...nope...not going to ask him...but will think of it when I see him. HA!
