c>

that's a c prompt; when i had option to restart my pc, i'd use that to go offline to c>

can't remember what you call it ... that's best i can do until someone more pc literate comes along!

also toots, get out the book that came with windows xp or use the HELP screen asking for DISKSCAN, and it should have step by steps for you. [Wink] [hi]

Hi there [Smile]

Start, all programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Defragmenter.

I know it looks long but it's pretty easy.

Now when you get to the part in that long list you can click on the disk Defragmenter or...

Just right click on disk Defragmenter and look for an option in the menu that will drop down called "pin to start menu"

That will actually put the defrag option on your start menu, then all you have to do is click that one from now on. [Smile]

Hi [Smile]

Ha ha ha! Just do it, ya big chicken! [Big Grin]

No really, it's good for your hard drive and if defraging hurts your drive, then it wa ready to go anyhow.

I do mine every day with no problems. Just be prepared to wait a while if you have not done it in a long time. Also I always suggest not having things open like folders your internet browser and your email. You can keep your anti-virus and firewall running though. [Smile]

I did it and it wasn't painful at all!!

Don't think it helped a whole lot. Is it this site or my computer??

My laptop is a bit more successful at navigating this place....but still some problems.

Hi [Smile]

Well, defrag is to help your pc speed but does not always mean it will speed up your net.
This site is very slow a lot of the time and it's kind of hit and miss on the connection.

Are you on a high speed connection or a dial up? That would matter.

Thanks for the laugh you guys. Music Man thanks for the defragging tip.

No Tutu, it's not lymenet with the problem. It's you? Or is it me? I forgot.

Anything to help my computer. But it's all made me more computer nerdy that's for sure.

Pam

Hi there [Smile]

Well, I'm not complaining about this site, it is slow but they have their problems and having just stepped away from Admin on a music BB I can relate. [Smile]

But...

If you want to see how good or bad your PC is check this site out.
PC Pitstop

Click on the little key and you do not have to register, however, if you want to save your settings on what they find, you will have to register.

You will also have to allow the program to run so that may mean a drop down window at the top of your browser or your firewall asking if the program is safe or both.

It's safe and I use it all the time with clients.
Now don't freak out if you see bad things and if you post questions about it here? Remember we are all in the same boat and it may take me time to get back to you. [Smile]
