How about using this topic to test things out before you put them in your regular messages?

Suggestion: re-use your posts here, by editing them... that way you won't have to make 3 or 4 different posts in the process of getting it right, and this won't turn into a 100-page topic!

it worked for me when I tried it. Did you maybe have a carriage return in between those two images?

...I just checked: yes, that's the problem. Try deleting all the space between the image codes - one of those is a carriage return, which is forcing it to be on the next line.

Ok, it looks like you need one space between the images... but it can't be a carriage return. So, suck out all of what looks like spaces, then add a space; that's how I know I don't have carriage returns in there. It's always hard to tell because the Lymenet message-writing window wraps long things around so you don't know where you put in a carriage return vs where it broke the line.
If it still doesn't work, email to me ([email protected]) and we'll figure it out.

Mary, it won't work with a .gif that is stored on your computer... it must be one that is on a website.

If you have an image that you want to use here, and don't have a website to put it on, I will put it on mine for you (if it isn't too large, but that's not likely).
Just e-mail it to me at [email protected]

Would you consider re-using your posts in this topic by editing them? When you make a new post for each try, it's going to make the topic go to multiple pages pretty fast. Thanks!

PGM you almost have it! Take the .html off the end of the address (after the gif) before the [/IMG] tag and it should show up for you like this: (now watch me blow it...hehehe)

Added: The reason the smilie you wanted isn't showing up is because tripod doesn't allow outside linking to their members' websites. Alot of free webhosts do not allow what they call "hot linking" which is linking to an image on a page on their server. You note though that an image did indeed show up, just one that tripod uses to discourage hot linking...LOL

Secret squrl one reason you aren't getting the image to show is that there is a space between your beginning [img] and the http://
You cannot have any spaces in this whole setup if you want the image to show. Hope this helps you

Helen, you just need to add the / in the last [img] - like this [/img]

the / tells the picture when to end

oops - when you just see the square with the red box it means that the website you are trying to link is down. Ya just need to find another address of a pic. Try this one:

The last parenthesis should be [/IMG]. That tells the computer that it is the end of the image

Sent, the fancy stuff doesn't work in the signature lines...that's just the way the board is set up.

You can use "UBB Code" but not HTML code... the colors are HTML.

You can see what "UBB Code" is by clicking on the link to it, which appears to the left of the textbox where you enter your signature information... and that link also appears left of the textbox when you compose a reply to a message.

Help!
I am having problems with the lymenet site. Sorry for butting into this thread. I had some puter problems and they are all fixed. I haven't been here for a couple of weeks and on my computer it looks like the format has changed. Did it? Some of the posts under medical are coming out with a black background and blue lettering. When I try to reply to them, I hit the reply button, but nothing happens. This post just happened to work out correctly so that's why I'm here. I don't know how to get in touch with the webmaster.

Any ideas?
