Suddenly, out of the blue, my OE seems to be deciding to remove any attachments I get. Yes, that includes any important ones I am expecting.

I get a message which says "OE removed access to the following unsafe attachments"...

I have never had this before, and I am very doubtful that two people whom I know sent me to (expected documents) which were unsafe. Seems very odd.

Do I need to adjust some settings somewhere?

I was expecting a very important document which someone has emailed me ,and now I can't access it.

Try this, click tools on top of OE, then scroll down to options and click it, then click the security tab at the top and see if the box is checked that says....dont allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus. If it is checked, uncheck it and hit apply and ok.Hope this helps.

Shy,

Thank you so much, that worked. Now, how on earth did that box check itself. I haven't seen it before.

You are very welcome.Have you upgraded anything lately perhaps?Sometimes that will do it, or went back to default settings.

when it rains it pours, my mom called today with exactly the same problem, same solution Glad Shy was able to get it straightned out for you, I just wanted to post to say that there must have been some update that went out that restored defaults or this is some weird coincidence....

Just a word of caution:

That default behavior is there for a mostly-good reason. Attachments are where a virus or other malevolant code will come in.

I'm not familiar with more recent versions of Outlook, but if you can specify that you don't want attachments automatically opened (that is, you want to deal with them manually) - that would go a long way toward keeping your system safer (provided you excercise some wisdom over which attachments you choose to open).
