I am editing a number of documents (about another 100) for someone.

Each Word documents contains 6 small images (about 2x2.5 inches).

I do the editing and then convert each document, one by one, into PDF. So, I never have more than Word and Adobe open, and only 1 Word file at a time.

Things were going fine, then all of a sudden only 4 or 5 of the images in each document will show, with the others just being a black frame. I need to convert to PDF the Word documents COMPLETE with images.

This is holding all my work up.

I am getting a message saying:
"There is not enough memory to print or display the picture".

I have a computer with a lot of memory and I KNOW I do not use the computer anywhere near it's potential - yet it can't seem to handle this simple task.

I have been told it may be a virtual memory problem - does anyone know how to address this?

I have shut down and restarted a few times, to no avail.

It really is panic time as I need to complete the other 100 or so by Tuesday.

If you're on a PC using Microsoft, here are the instructions for increasing virtual memory:

To change the size of the virtual memory paging file open Computer Management (Local).

In the console tree, right-click on Computer Management (Local), and then select Properties.

On the Advanced tab, click Performance Options, and under Virtual memory, click Change.

In the Drive list, click the drive that contains the paging file you want to change.

Under Paging file size for selected drive, type a new paging file size in megabytes in the Initial Size (MB) or Maximum Size (MB) box, and then click Set.

If you decrease the size of either the minimum or maximum page file settings, you must restart your computer to see the effects of those changes. Increases generally do not require a restart.

To open Computer Management, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. Double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management.
You must be recognized as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group on your computer and on the computer you are managing to perform this task.

You can view or change system properties on a remote computer or a local computer. To access a remote computer, right-click Computer Management (Local), click Connect to another computer, and then select the computer you want to connect to in the list.

For best performance, set the initial size to not less than the recommended size under Total paging file size for all drives. The recommended size is equivalent to 1.5 times the amount of RAM on your system.

Usually, you should leave the paging file at its recommended size, although you might increase its size if you routinely use programs that require a lot of memory.

To delete a paging file, set both initial size and maximum size to zero.

 

I did, in the meantime, figure out how to increase the virtual memory and doubled it to min 800 and max 1600 - but, it made no difference.

I have made arrangements to just use someone else's 'puter to finish this job today - after that am probably taking it in for a "service" as it's got so many little quirky things going on with it now.
