can someone PLEASE tell me where the time out adjustment is located. I have seen it many times but cant for the life of me find it now,,,it is timing out every few minutes and loosing connection,,,and is SOOOOOOOO frustrating.

Do you have to reset this every time you reboot the puter?? seems its always different but dont know why.

Dearest Don,

Go to your Profile

Then go to update/adjust profile

Scroll down and you will see where you can change your time out thingy.

It worked for me. Hope it works for you.

Lovingly,
Janet

Thanks for the try Janet.

What I meant to say was the control that after so many minutes of not flipping sites,,,my puter disconnects from my server. happens on Saturday nite chat all the time,,,cant stay connected and I get booted alot.

Actaully I was at a different site and was watching old cars sell on line. For hours, every few minutes my connection dropped and I had to reconnect each time,,,took longer to get connected with my slow dial up thAN i COULD STAY CONNECTED. So I was looking for the control in my puter that allows me to stay connected longer between disconnects. I look all over and cant find it like I once could. I wish it would 'ask' me before disconnecting,,,sometimes very seldom does mostly just disconnects,,,at the most inoportune times.

OK Don....let's try again.... [Big Grin]

I am NOT a computer guru but I like a challenge. I went to my control panel and found a place where you can use administrative tools. Go there and you have several options, including having the manager search for and fix application problems.

That's my best so far. Let me know if you get anywhere with this advice. [Roll Eyes]

All my best,
Janet

Oh Don, I forgot........

The only way to make sure your system continues to work properly is to sit very still with your face less than 12 inches from your monitor. Even better, if you put your nose on the screen, exactly in the middle........

Gosh, you're cute!

So I reset my time out on my server connection,,,first,,at 24 hours so it didnt time out at all,,,NO HELP,,still times out every half hour of so.

So then I thought resett it to 4 hours,,that should help,,,maybe the 24 hours is past the server limit. Reset to 4 hours,,,no help,,,still times out

So sometimes it times out in ten minutes,,,but never over about a half an hour,,,who controls this?? Auto disconnect always pops up,,,if I can catch it. Once the thing starts ticking like a bad package on the porch its too late!!

So there has to be another place to set the time out,,,,WHERE????dumb old--just don--

Just Don,
If you want me to write to you, you could just say so. [Big Grin]

Try this:
Go to Control Panel
Under control panel go to Network Connections
Under network connections go to Network Troubleshooter.....see if Troubleshooter can figure out your timing out problem.

Besides the above, I am not sure why your system is causing you so many problems. Ya think it's time to call the Techie Nerds? Is your operating system a registered version? Mine isn't so I can't get any help from Windows. Do you run Windows? Sometimes you can get them online with you and they can get into your computer and fix things from afar. Sort of creepy but they CAN do that.

Hope you get the kinks out of your system soon....the computer ones I mean. [bonk]

Lovingly,
Janet
