Hi,
I was wondering how you can make people aware of the s/s of chronic lyme disase??

I envisioned myself standing on the corner of the library passing out flyers. Course I don't know if that's legal!

Is there a Lyme association that you can print out flyers from???

I'm willing to do it when I am a little better and the weather is much better (bout froze today!).

If you have any ideas let me know. Oh, I did write our local newspaper, but then I got an e-mail that it did not go through. So I'll have to snail mail it to them.

Thanks,
Ocean

Ocean, I typed up my own local info flyers with some basic info, local angle info, and websites. I have 1/8th pg size for wallets(websites), 1/4 pg size(local and general info) and 1/2 pg size (local info).

I post them on bulletin boards, do walk-ins to animal care places and garden places and any other relevant place.

I pass them out individually as well. One-on-one time with people is also good, since you're really talking with folks and answering their questions.

I also pass out the CALDA California brochure, as it has excellent info and pictures. People like seeing pictures of the tick, the rash, etc.

If you can acquire any brochures with pictures, that's helpful in educating people.

Then whoever you can think of to contact in your area - groups, activities, schools, etc. Ask them if they have a newsletter, if they would like you to do a program, a showing of the film?

You can make calls to places and people and tell them what's going on. I call dog walkers. Anything to spread the word. Etc.

There are a lot of flyers, etc, you can download from the CALDA website at www.lymedisease.org. Try under "California" "Resources" and "Activism". Hint: not all of the posters under California are limited to California. Some are more general.

Robin,

Good job! Thanks so much for the info, my neighbor is a huge birding person and knows a lot of outdoorsy organizations and I am sure that she would be a good resource as to where I can leave/pass out flyers.

Jblral,

Thanks for the website. I'll try to find a good one to download.

Thanks so much,

Ocean

Exactly, Ocean! Ask your bird-watching neighbor what she knows about local outdoors groups and newsletters.

Let her know May is Lyme Awareness month - you two could work on some articles to go into monthly bulletins if there are any, etc.

Maybe you could be invited to give a small presentation at a meeting. Maybe even a UOS showing...
