Where are the email addresses? I know I can private message people but I was still wondering what happened to email access.

I think you have to go to your profile above and add it yourself. It took me awhile to figure that out. I hope others will read this and add their addresses. But thank goodness we CAN contact them through the private message system! [Cool]

Click on your nickname.

Click on MY PROFILE and on UPDATE it. There you can show your private email where it asks if you want to SHOW it publicly or not.

Also there you can disable the ****** rating system.

I'm still confused about this [confused]

Where does your email display? Is there an icon to click on?

I do see the private message icon.

Hey Betty, Angela or anyone else,

I went to my profile under edit and did specify to show my email address. Now when I or anyone else clicks my profile the email address still does not show up.

If I click another member's profile who I know did this also it still doesn't show up.

Only when I go to my profile under edit can I see mine .

Am I making sense....or am I in a brain fog?? [Eek!]

With the addition of the new Private Message system, we have disabled the display of E-mail addresses on the Flash forums in order to combat the high level of SPAM that results from automated "E-mail siphoning" robots that routinely scrape these E-mail addresses from web sites such as ours.

What we recommend at this time is to send a user a private message asking for their E-mail address. This private message will, in turn, send an E-mail to that user letting them know they have a private message waiting as well as the text of that message.

This system addresses both privacy concerns as well as abuse in the form of SPAM or phishing attacks.

Regards,
-Tom

Where does the private message wait?

Is it something sent to your email account or,

Is there now somewhere on here where we can view individual messages or, am I confusing that?

Thanks,
SHerry

Does this help? (from faqs)

What are private messages?

The administrators of this message board may permit members to send private messages to each other. A private message is not email. Private messages are one-to-one communications that can only be read by the recipient. You can read private messages in your profile section. You can also elect to be notified by email whenever someone sends you a private message (you can set this in your profile). You can also prevent anyone from sending you a private message (also configurable in your profile). Only registered members may send private messages. This option can be disabled by the board administrators.

To send someone a private message, look for the private message icon on a post a person creates. You can send a private message through the person's member profile, or from your Buddy List, if you have added the person to your Buddy List.

Its annoying having to check both my email AND Lymenet to get somebodys message and then search for their email address. I want to help people quickly, and directly, and this gets crazy when I have 15 emails from Lymenet members and I want to reply individually and have to go though this goose chase. i love the new system, but not this aspect! Can't we please just put the button back?
