Anyone try tramadol for pain? Is it addictive/ can you build tolerance? My doc says no. Had to stop taking oxys and morphine for pain because of the tolerance with those.

Hi, I have used Tramadol, it seems helpful but not as helpful as narcotics, which I take for pain at night only, I don't know if I have lyme or not but will be treating myself with herbs to see if I improve, I used to work at a lyme clinic and the test we used was always positive for people with misdiagnosed lyme disease, and I always thought I should treat myself but didn't! Tramadol is considered a narcotic, and is addictive - but if using a narcotic to sleep, I think you gotta do what you gotta do. I moved and will have to find another doctor to take over my pain med Rx, hope it isn't too hard, so strict with narcotics these days and I only take one at night!!!

If you want to ask any questions, it may be best to start a separate thread so this one does not run off course. But I was not sure how else to be sure you have some very important detail.

As for a couple statements you made that cause concern. I can't address them all but for the most important one:
I'm not sure what kind of clinic you worked at but it seems that you have the impression that positive lyme tests are often mistakes.

Usually, that sounds like IDSA driven philosophy.
It's the typical case that people with Undiagnosed lyme have been misdiagnosed with other things.
A positive lyme test is a very serious consideration. There are no false positives, really - but there can be false negatives and it happens frequently.
There is only one band that could be other spirochetal infections - but a good LLMD or LL ND also works with other data, not just that one band. The best labs for testing in links below.
I hope you can find a good LL doctor, whether a LLMD or a LL ND to help you figure out what's going on.

I have been on tramadol on and off for 2 yrs. I built up a tolerance to it and it only numbs the pain It does cause weird dreams for me

I found no relief from tramadole for my lyme headaches.
Aspirin is still the only over the counter pain reliever that helps me. But when my lyme headaches are really bad I have to take many aspirins to find some relief.
