I was accepted into my states program and on thc for 4 nights now. Supposed to help me sleep and be a way to taper off zolpidem.

I wake up during night with pounding heart and headache and anxiety. Starting at very low dose.

This is supposed to be sedating so why is it doing the opposite for me? I'm so disappointed.

I thought that CBD was the more sedating of the two main ways to go with cannabis.

There can be so many different strains - even with TCH and they all can have different effects.

I'd look to the strain you got. Talk to the supplier and tell them. If a medical supplier, they need to know that maybe some of the strains are not what they are supposed to be.

The form might also be the variable here. Whether smoke - particulate matter as a "foreign" agent in your body that your body is trying to clear out overnight

or some ingredient in an edible form, your body could be reacting to something other than the medicine.

I don't know if this is true with cannabis yet for most Rx, there can be what is called a

"A paradoxical reaction or paradoxical effect is an effect of medical treatment, usually a drug, opposite to the effect which would normally be expected. An example of a paradoxical reaction is pain caused by a pain relief medication."

Fungicides also to be considered. If this is organic, the supplier might want to double check that. Even if organic, certain chemicals are used during growth, perhaps in packaging.

Also consider mold. This plant is prone to mold and maybe their growing methods did not keep that in check. Again, if you are working with a certified medical supplier they should go - happily - to every step to set this right for you.

And, perhaps, an interaction with one or more other medications you take.

I think I would react that way. I'm sensitive to salicylates. It might be a good idea to see if that is the connection.

I'm sorry it didn't work out. Very disappointing.

Make sure you are using INDICA strain to help with sleep. If you use others, it may make you more wired and alert - as well as not so pleasant effects.

I heard that about indica in advance and was so disappointed that they don't use it in either of the two dispensaries in the state.

And I heard people's packages get intercepted if you order online.

Vaping doesn't give me the anxiety but doesn't relax me much either.

Maybe vaping is different because it doesn't go through the liver?

I use edibles to help with sleep. This has helped me tremendously. My doc told me to stay away from vaping. Edibles take a while to work but the effects are longer lasting. Feel free to PM me for info on this.

The dispensaries I have been to all have some products with a 1/1 ratio of CBD to THC, but I have not been able to find pure CBD oil without any THC at the dispensaries. I believe you can order this online though.

I had a llmd once tell me that most ofhis patients reacted the exact opposite of a person without lyme. that's why he only gave a couple of pills instead of a full prescription.

I've wasted a small mint throwing medicine away because I couldn't take it. after a couple er vists and all I pretty much stopped most meds except bp.

doesn't surprise me at all.

Indica is supposed to be the one for sleep aid. Is that what they're using?

Also, John Malanca just presented the 2nd Sacred Plant series on cannabis. Try contacting him for some advice on what to do and how to procure.

I inquired at one of our local dispensaries and they suggested testing a small amount of CBD edible first for calming before moving on to testing indica edible for sleep aid.

No indica or edibles here unfortunately.

I watched Sacred Plane #2 in that series last week and it was excellent!

Ive heard cbc oil kills Lyme.

I'm starting to wonder if the thc does too and my horrible symptoms of headache, hip pain and anxiety, etc are from a herx.

I bought good cbc oil from and trying that alone now and same thing I think.

I'm stopping both for a couple days and see if I get better.

But last year LLMD sold me CBD and I didn't have that reaction

Maybe I'm just coincidentally going through a bart flare at same time.

THC is the hallucinogen and responsible for the majority of the high effect - some like this - others especially if prone to depression or anxiety often do not. same goes for most hallucinogens.

CBD is generally regarded as the calming, non-high inducing component - and is generally well tolerated.

both have immunomodulating properties and i believe some anti-microbial ones too - so could cause some kind of healing crisis effect

the plant has many many other components in it also - which could account for some of the other strain to strain differences

you don't necessarily need a zero THC strain - its just that the recreational use strains have evolved over recent years to be extremely high in THC (up to 20%) - as that's what most recreational users want.

low THC strains with more CBD than THC may be fine as the CBD to some extent counteracts the THC.
