Favorite saying on this site is "Hold the Mayo". They wouldnt know lyme if it hit them in the head. They are the biggest ducks and will swear you have everything under the sun except this. Then if not satisfied they will say its all in your head. Go there at your own risk, and RISKY it is!!! Just "Hold the Mayo" OR you will wish you did!! THey are GOOD for some other things, just not this one!!! Dont think Duke is any better, but not sure, maybe others can chime in with better info!!--d--

I agree with don wholeheartedly!! Mayo is awful when it comes to checking patients for Lyme. They told one of our board members "We don't do Lyme here."
I would think you need to steer clear of ANY major hospitals. They all adhere to the belief that Lyme is easily cured in 4 wks.
Find an LLMD. If you need help finding one, let us know.

I found this old link by typing in "Mayo Clinic" in a search here....see link at the top of this page. There are tons more links just like this one if you're interested.

When another member asked if they had any Lyme specialists, the snooty reply was, "They're all Lyme specialists."
The "we dont' do Lyme here" is at least an honest response.

Bessie, I see that no one has answered your question about Duke.
I have not had any personal experience with Duke, but from what I've heard, they are wonderful with most illnesses but not Lyme disease.
A young man told me that he kept telling the dr at Duke "I think I have Lyme disease." After several appt, the dr emphatically said "Don't tell me you have Lyme disease. I wrote a book about it & you don't have it."
The young man went elsewhere & was diagnosed with Lyme. Last time I talked with him, he had improved tremendously. If things have changed at Duke, I'm not aware of it.
You need to be evaluated by a LLMD (Lyme Literate Med Dr). If you haven't found a LLMD yet, go to Seeking a Dr here on LymeNet. Info about LLMDs will be sent to you privately by PM.
Also, on the left, click Support Groups in your state & surrounding states.
