I was just wondering whether anyone knew when the Under Our Skin documentary would be released. We're nearing the end of 2007 and from what I've read it was to be released in 2007.
I really would like to buy a copy.

I too have wondered about it, since even in the trailer, it ends by saying that it will be coming in 2007. Somehow I don't think it will make that deadline, but would love some updated info.

no, it was just finished earlier this summer during the editing process.
I checked out the list of documentaries that Sundance will be showing and it isn't there. There are some other options for showing documentaries in that area during the Sundance Festival Maybe they will get in there.
Sundance isn't the only possibility, they could show it in other film festivals all over the world. Hopefully it would get picked up by something like PBS or HBO or some such.
This film company has some other films under producation at the same time. They are very experienced people and will do what they need to to get it seen.
It will be some time before they would sell it as a DVD, that is my guess.
i took the time and emailed director andy for an update asking him to post in activism! we'll have to keep a look out there; won't we?

I wanted to give them our holiday donation money this year, but now I can't find them.
Does anyone have information about what's going on with the film? Is it in trouble? Maybe someone simply forget to renew the Open Eye Pictures URLs.. hope it is as simple as that.

Thanks so much for solving this mystery, BettyG! But we didn't do wrong. They changed their website name!
I know I have lymebrain and all, but I've been using the ".com" sites all year. To double-check, I just Googled Open Eye Pictures, Under Our Skin, and looked at the UTube version of the promo. In all cases, the .com sites are listed (which of course are no longer working).
It is GREAT news that the .ORG site main page IS working. But all the links on that page still open to the old .COM pages, which are broken - yikes!
I didn't get Andy's email from you yet -- I'd love to have it, if you get a chance, so I can warn him about these broken links.
Hope you're doing well, Betty. Been a while since I checked in on you!

I went to a fundraiser (partial) early screening event in early November (or was it October? Lyme brain... forgive me.) It was in Mill Valley, CA. Very classy.
If I remember correctly, the director said that were still trying to raise a final $100k for editing and distributing purposes. They have all the footage finished. He did not give a date, but the impression I got was that it was going to be A WHILE.... like 6 months at least.
It really looks awesome though. All of the stories they included are heart-breaking, brilliant, beautiful, inspiring.

I asked Andy Abrahams Wilson (Executive Director/Senior Producer) about the film site not working yesterday, which URL to use to promote the film, when the film will be released, and about donating. Here is what he said:
Hi Elizabeth,
Thanks for your concern. Everything's up and running--it was just a small administrative glitch that was fixed.
To answer your questions:
1. For now use lymediseasefilm.com (Though we'll probably have a dedicated site with a different name when the film is released. No matter what, the old URL will link to the new one.)
2. Never too late to donate. Thank you!
3. The film will be completed March 1st and released some how and somewhere soon after that. Join our email list and we'll keep you informed.

This is a documentary film, so it probably will not be showing up in your local cineplex. It will be shown at a lot of film festivals around the country - and maybe even around the world.
It is too late for it to make it to Sundance, which is usually the prime target for documentaries.
If it is good enough, it may be picked up by PBS and shown on Point of View or another program there.
With really good luck, it could end up on HBO. Also, Discovery Channel would be a good place to show it. And they may offer it on DVD, so you can rent or buy your own.
