please do not use fedex for your packaging service. i sent a computer to kam in good working order wrapped in corrugated cardboard tape and folded caedboard aroung the sides.
the computer did not move when shaken.
it arrived at kam's with a broken front, 2 dents in the case and not working.
the computer and box went back to fedex and they said it was not going to warrant the computer ,since it was not packed to standards.
i do not know about you, but does anybody here know how to pack to industry standards?????
i had it insured for $500. they are now refusing to pay for it because it was not packed properly.
bullcrap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
see don i told you they will fight it. if you want to help me fight this. call Christina Woodward at fedex claims 1-800-463-3339. maybe people could help get this claim paid.
i already purchased the second computer for Kam, since i donated the first one myself. the new one is also coming out of my pocket unless they pay this claim.
i had sent an email that this was for a woman who's only contact with society is thru lymenet, and it was evil that she should not get the computer intact.
any ideas would be very helpful. or anybody work fedex that could help this along.

sorry forgot the case #0226725425 call and say you are from lymenet and this person was in dire need of this computer, since she was homebound
kam took it to the shop and said it was unrepairable. i talked to a supervisor, she was an a-- she started quoting all theses packaging standards, which i have know idea what she is talking about.
i don't know about you , but i think 2 layers of bubble wrap and newspaaperstuffon all 9 sides should be enough.
i'm so mad i think i'll mail her the computer. dented and broken!!!!!

I should think if they insured it for 500 they would also insure it was packaged correctly-the ball was in their court once they agreed to insure it. Can't imagine they thought you were only insuring the cardboard box it was sent in.

Sorry to disagree but UPS has been terrible for me.
I paid for overnight once, it went regular. It had perishables in it.
One package to went to New Hampshire instead of Ohio, one package was completely lost.
And one package was delivered to the wrong address, even tho it was marked very clearly. The stupid people opened it, even tho it was not addressed to them, and took the stuff.
UPS failed to reimburse me, even tho it was clearly their fault. They delivered it to 1944 and not 1994.
I always ship government mail. If antyhig happens, they reimburse, and will prosecute anyone who tampers with the mail.
UPS told me they do not bother with anything less than 1500, so i was out of luck.
My mailman said the post office covers anything.

Didn't read all the posts. But, I guess this answers my question as to whether you were re imbursed or not.
There was a talk show and web site called troubeshooter.com.
I am running no empty right now, but will try to see if I can locate this site.
But, it is possible this guy might be able to help.
This was supposed to be a simple thing. Sorry, it got so complex.

How awful! Just read this thread. I will call them too next week and let them know they will lose our business if they do not take care of this.
The small claims court idea is a good one. Let them explain to a judge why they will not make good on their insurance coverage. They won't -- they would probably just pay up at that point.
