Thanks to all who took time to do this. VERY helpful. Good work BettyG.
As to Phyliss's comments about it not being useful. Sorry, I disagree.
I use all of them on a regular basis. I think since ticks can't read border signs.. all legilators can be contacted in some cases.

I think TC is asking for STATE not Federal here. i.e. your States general assembly.
Then rather than just cutting and pasting the entire page, you have to get this ready to be cut and pasted into an email address bar.
So you have ONLY the email address's seperated by commas. For VA I cut and pasted all the info to a word processing document and then deleted all the other info out i.e. names, addresses, phone and fax #'s.
All that remained was the email address. They have to be seperated by commas. This took quite a bit of time, but I THINK it is what TC is requesting.
If I am off- base, well.....nevermind, robi littela

This is PERFECT! ALL of the replies!!!
It would have taken me years to do all of this... so I am VERY thankful!!!!
Now all of us can just copy and paste as needed... or click on the sites directly!
I can't believe you all did that much work in such a short time!
My face hurts now I am grinning so much!!!
THANK YOU!!!!!!
And do keep them coming! All states would be nice! If someone has done yours.. maybe you can try a neighboring state.. or one of the ones no one has ever heard of.. like Delaware.. or Utah. hehehe
If these are sent this way, they should be sent using BCC, blind carbon copy so EACH name doesn't take up a full line BEFORE ANY TEXT SHOWS; it's frustrating to the receiver .
What I'd like to propose for Tincup's approval or disapproval is this:
1. for those listing them 1 per line, to show the SPACE after comma, and have 2 names per line like others so when you send it doesn't take up so much room as you know SOMEONE WILL KEEP A FILE COPY.
2. or leave it as is ... more paper when you print these off for "file" purposes.
Reason I caught this was last year when we were heavy on activism here sending different states our letters about LYME BILLS/SUPPORT, I ran personally into the problem, and it would not send my ENTIRE LIST due to 1 or 2 errors like this! Frustrating; pc is smarter than me again!
Lymies, I'm a former secretary, and this has been part of my job of 31 years ... so trying to get CORRECTED any problems I see as I read a huge project like this one is.
WELL DONE EVERYONE FOR YOUR PROMPT REPLIES TO TINCUP FOR "OUR" LYME PROJECT SHE IS INITIATING ON OUR BEHALF!
Yes, I'm shouting with JOY at ALL these wonderful lymies getting their states info together in a fast and organized manner. Bettyg
yes, when doing this; it will WRAP TO THE NEXT line so you will NOT see this when typing this as one line but 2 lines ...
as you start doing this, go to the bottom where it shows PREVIEW, and check it out for yourself! It should show 2 names on one line.
This way if you notice any type of an error, like I did when reading everyone's posts; it may stand out at you like yours did to my "trained" eyes!
So glad I live in Iowa: 2 senators & 5 reps only. I feel for you all with MANY to do! But glad this is a GROUP STATE effort occurring! Bettyg

**WASHINGTON** and general info about how to find your state legislators (also lists federal legislators)
Yahoo does not let one send large mass mailings. So I've found it much easier to use the electronic messaging system that WA state has created -- I just paste my letter into the form provided. I use Mozilla, which will automatically fill in the requested info (name, address, etc.) for me.
May I give you my "secretary" observations on the long list of folks you had for New Jersey?
When you come to your senators, etc. like the below, I left 2 only to show you here ok. Look how I redid this below by putting in that EXTRA BLANK LINE BETWEEN SENATORS TO SET THEM OFF.
Also, type the complete addreses DOWNWARD like an envelope vs. across the page . see below ********************************************
You can tell where one person's info ends, and the new person's starts....
[QUOTE]Originally posted by lymedesign: New Jersey Contact Info
Senator John H. Adler, Democrat District Office: 1916 Route 70 East, Suite 3, Cherry Hill, NJ 08003 (856)-489-3442 Senator Diane B. Allen, Republican District Office: 11 West Broad St.,
Senator John H. Adler, Democrat District Office: 1916 Route 70 East, Suite 3, Cherry Hill, NJ 08003 (856)-489-3442
Senator Diane B. Allen, Republican District Office: 11 West Broad St., CITY, STATE, ZIP
rest of names ... these extra blanks are needed for for the typist's eyes when working with BULK names like many of your states are.
OTHER COMMENTS/SUGGESTIONS:
I think it was Jill? who commented about copying/pasting directly to lymenet and do your editing here.
My personal experience is NO! Copy/paste to your word processing, do your editing, and SAVE your work every 5 minutes so it's NOT LOST!
If you type on lymenet, the system is going down a lot lately, and your work is gone UNLESS YOU ENTERED IT! If you are still working on it and pc goes down, it's gone forever WITHOUT SAVING IT!
So use your word processing for this monumental task and things can be updated, edited, etc. faster since you'll assign a name to use to find it again.
MY REASONS FOR SAYING THIS! I was a secretary of typing LEGAL AGREEMENTS dealing with the railroads in Iowa. Some of these got to be 50-75 pages PER agreement.
On one FINAL agreement which everyone agreed to, there were at least 75 DRAFTS, and I numbered each one to keep them straight!
When first typing these, I didn't have ONE BACKUP when the hard drive went down losing ALL THESE PAGES! They all had to be retyped! Now, do you believe me!
Use your word processor and even use a FLOPPY BACKUP for a 2nd copy so ALL IS NOT LOST after ALL your hard work ok!
AARP & ALZHEIMER'S ORGs have CURRENT info on all state's senators/reps, etc. I'm involved with them on activism too. When they send me notices, they always send me a link to click on for MY STATE'S INFO.
So they MAY be someone to contact also instead of REINVENTING the wheel? Tincup, what do YOU think?
I apologize to anyone I may have offended by putting my comments here, but I want to see any problems fixed NOW, and not when we are under DEADLINES and the stress is getting to us all ok! Bettyg

Here are some mistakes I caught today when skimming over all of your wonderful, PROMPT replies below....thanks so much you lymies!
OHIO - Ann, FANTASTIC JOB; each of your lines even lined up so it was so EASY to make sure a comma and space were in between all those listed. God bless you Ann!
MICHIGAN - Amy, I noticed there was not city, state, & zip codes on some ... I think it was in DC. Needed PER person ok.
NEW YORK - masmith@senate needs SPACE between the 2 names of smith & masmith, next name.... they show up together as one name.
UTAH - you need to edit/pencil icon show street address 2nd line...delete word address city, state, zip on 3rd line
Actually, I noticed this for a few other states, but I can NOT decipher my writing in the dark!
NORTH CAROLINA - timm richrdm...can't read writing of 2nd person. You need COMMA for it to be sent ok! thanks
Someone mentioned about the wide threads, Carol B..I think told me about this good idea. On wide threads, go to the END of thread. Left hand corner shows FRIENDLY PRINT VERSION...click on that. Then everything shows up in YOUR width screen. You can read all, and then use BACK for you to post a reply if you chose to ok!
Everyone, please remember if these are to be sent as SNAIL MAIL, it's the normal 3-4 lines of info required: (This will be helpful if someone has to TAPE them to envelopes!)
TINCUP IS THE BEST 007 POLITICAL ACTIVIST AVE. EVERYWHERE, USA 12345
Thank you for letting me assist you to make the mailings go smoother when we NEED them ASAP! GREAT JOB EVERYONE! Bettyg

ATTENTION TINCUP FOR REPLY:
When doing the below, I know of one man dropping out of RE-ELECTION. Can't remember, but isn't this reelection year for congress or is it just my neuro lyme brain thinking it's time for re-elections? Bettyg
Also, I was putting hugs/smilies on here, and when done; it would NOT let me send ... 8 is MAXIMUM! shucks so here's my hugs/kisses here instead for ALL!
Hi gang! I'm back; I eread the above entered by many of you; saw many changes noted, and noticed things I missed the first time. I'll show by state in the order they came, NOT A-Z.
EDITED: 8-2-06, 130 am
SOUTH CAROLINA - CBB - state reps/senators ok! FANTASTIC JOB CBB!
FLORIDA - Stansel..gov needs PERIOD after gov., then stargel ...GREAT WORK!
VIRGINIA, Robi - Fantastic; no mistakes I saw!
GEORGIA - Stella; wow, so many members..uffda! GREAT WORK ... saw 1 MINOR mistake: Sinkfield ga. NEEDS COMMA; ga., smith
VERMONT - Hurting Gramma, needs more work:
1. addresses need to go DOWN; not vertical just liked addressed on snail mail envelopes:
2. need emails as a GROUP LIST...see above for guideance; not individually. You need to copy/paste to your word processor & SAVE often so it's not lost ok.
Gramma, sorry to be a wet blanket for you.
OREGON - Meg, senators/reps..FANTASTIC JOB!
MICHIGAN - Amy, senators/reps OK...FANTASTIC JOB. I like how you were creative of having a COMPLETE mailing address! ONE SUGGESTION...
Please bold this one sentence you added with the one address being used to go to all senators.
US mail for ALL SENATORS can be addressed as follows: bold the next 3 lines of street, city/state/zip
Amy, I think my illegible note to me said also for you to do a GROUP email list...thanks!
NEW YORK, MO, state assembly ok..FANASTIC JOB
NEW JERSEY - LYME DESIGN needs some more work on:
1. needs GROUP FEDERAL senators emails;
2. separate the 2 phones on the city/state/zip so city, state, & zip are on 1 line; next line shows phone no. ______ and ______
3. STATE senators, etc. Lyme design, you need to have ONE BLANK LINE left between EACH name/address so we can tell at a glance where one starts & ends. example,
Sen. John Adler street address city/stae/zip
Sen. Diane Allan same as above
MINOUCAT -- thanks for the great links where you can click on the map, and find YOUR state and get needed info for state & federal names, etc.! You're the best minou!
NEVADA - MEG, assembly & senate OK. FANTASTIC JOB!
ARIZONA - MEG, senate & house OK; FANTASTIC JOB!
UTAH - MEG, STATE senators/reps DONE; OK FEDERAL sen/reps DONE..OK MEG, KEEP UP THE OUTSTANDING WORK GIRL!
FLORIDA - TRUEBLUE ..OK..FANTASTIC JOB!
N. CAROLINA - NORTH STAR - reps/sen. OK FANTASTIC JOB!
NEW MEXICO - ROBI, STATE sen/reps. OK; FANTASTIC JOB!
OHIO - Ann, found some other errors that stood out when looking again at your wonderfully aligned list; that's how I found them ... they were off 1 digit some lines!
it's these 6 district numbers that are wrong:
27, sta te combine STATE as one word; 28 not 288; 1 4 should be 14 34 NO SPACE 55 not 558 65 not 665 94 not 948
Good night ladies; I'm done proofreading; I couldn't read some of my other comments! uffda
GREAT JOB EVERYONE .. so terribly many names/addresses! Bettyg

11-=10-06, IOWANS, I just gone emailing ALL our state senators and house of reps with Tincup/Pat Smith's email asking them ALL to sign the LDA PETITION!
edited: 11-17-06 Since the legislature is out until January 07, the following emails came back with a note to end them to their work/home addresses:
I want to give credit here to LOOKINGFORHOPE/Amy who joined one day after this campaign started and go busy getting our DC senators/reps info together ! Very energetic of her doing this.
However, she accidentally used a bad, OUTDATED site of info. The correct info for our DC senators/reps is below . Thanks Amy for all your work on beginning this for us Iowans! Bettyg
R.Jim Nussle will be leaving & was DEFEATED by dDemocrat Chet Culver as Iowa's GOVERNOR.

UPDATE: during Tincup's unknown absense from this board and specifically on TC;s 50 state project, Meg and I have talked privately and arrived at a MUTUAL decision on the below:
. we will NOT be collecting each STATE'S snail mail addresses for their house of reps & senators saving everyone hours of work!
. We will USE what ones were correct in the format needed.
. Those INCORRECT, we will ask the poster by PM, private message, to delete that portion from their ACTIVISM post, and leave the correct info of FEDERAL SENATORS/REPS and STATE EMAILS OF senators & house of reps .
. Aniek has a list available to her of each state's LOCAL senators/house of reps, and could get EXTRACT that info for SNAIL MAIL ADDRESS LABELS .. so her way will save all state's members many hours of composing this. We have each seen it, and it will do what needs to be done.
Thank you Aniek for sharing your expertise & what you have available to you for our joint lyme project.
. Another major concern Meg & I both have is that Nov. elections will CHANGE what you have done.
. So LET'S PUT A HOLD ON THIS PROJECT UNTIL AFTER THE NOV. ELECTIONS so you do not have to do this project twice !
. We do not know what Tincup had in mind but since we are only 9-10 wks. away from en election, it can wait in my mind. Bettyg
Any questions, PM either Meg or me ok; thanks! Bettyg and Meg, Tincup's co-chairs

Ok I may be wrong about this but a few years ago I listened to a radio station where a secretary to one of the senators stated that only snail mail and faxes will be read. Emails will not be read because they're not "official." The emails will be deleted and never read. I think our best bet to be heard is to send out or fax letters with our signatures on them. I'm curious though, has anyone contacted their senators via email and gotten an official response back from them? If so, then email may actually be read. I have contacted my senators via snail mail in the past regarding something else and received an official letter in the mail from them letting me know that they did read my letter and what actions, if any that were going to be taken.

Oh Good Betty! So, then emails can work. Another thing to consider is it may be harder to ignore us if all of us actually sent letters by snail mail. The piles of envelopes may be more eye popping for them versus emial. Just a thought..but either way, as long as we're doing something, then we can't go wrong!

This IS the updated list of legislators for Congress/State for 2007-2008. I sent a personal message to each of these legislators describing my story and a call to action (Petition.com/lyme), and generally asked for their support. I sent messages using Bcc field in Outlook Express and there seemed to be a limit of 75 names, so I sent them out in 11 separate messages totaling 396 names. (Send me a private message if you want my specific breakdowns). All original errors have been edited from this message.
you've got so many folks..wow! I use yahoo and would not be able to BCC, blind carbon copy so many folks.
So may I suggest to you on breaking them up into groups of 20-25 max, leave a blank line between group! keep doing that for your entire long list. To help me know where i was, i showed group 1, 2, etc. until i had them all numbered.
As i would send one group of BCC, i'd check it off after it went. These go well like this, BUT if you get a larger group of 40, YAHOO KEEPS TRACK AND YOU SEND ONLY "ONE" MAILING PER HOUR THIS WAY! so 20-25 works best to keep the emails going to all. Just send to yourself only!
look what i did for IOWA a little ways above NH.
Again, ERIN, way to go girl! just outstanding work.
are these CURRENT or the NEW 07 folks addresses?
this is something we are going to have to START ALL OVER WITH 2007 ELECTEES IN ENTIRE GROUP; not looking forward to this again of all the work and proofreading!
I have found when proofreading to put that person's post in "", and it normally shows 1 column of info vs. 2-3 addresses per line.
easier to see if the , space is after each address!

Here are links for Indiana and some other useful information for everyone. Sorry it's so long - Iowa post was lucky!! I'm not sure how the one link showed in blue or how the email addresses did not show up as links. I just copied and pasted from "word" and below is how it showed up! I tried to remember to space things apart to make it easier to read!! CJ
Article I, section 3 of the Constitution requires the Senate to be divided into three classes for purposes of elections. Senators are elected to six-year terms, and every two years the members of one class--approximately one-third of the Senators--face election or reelection. Terms for Senators in Class I expire in 2013, Class II in 2009, and Class III in 2011
Links for all Congressman: lists all current representatives for all states, in alphabetical order by last name OR you can click on ``List by State'' and be redirected to a US map , where you can click on your individual state. You then click on individual names to be redirected to their websites.
Most representatives who have websites also have a link on site for ``contact''. I have sent messages from there when I want to use a different email address rather than my default for my email. That keeps you from going to outlook, yahoo, or hotmail, etc. You just type in the email address you want to use for a reply. Those contact areas usually have areas to include your snail mail address and phone number. I always receive replies - sometimes by email and sometimes by snail mail.
USEFUL INFORMATION FOR ALL STATES: Note on Indiana Congressman Steve Buyer's website: Mail to the Washington D.C. office continues to be delayed due to the irradiation procedures all mail must undergo prior to delivery. In order to respond more efficiently to your concerns, I encourage you to contact me either through my website or by mail to the district office of your choosing.

Betty reminded me that this list existed, and though I am a newcomer to it, I have some suggestions that might make it more useful.
Since we need to update most of the information maybe we can do it in order of states so that in alphabetical order of states to make it easier to find your state. I don't know how to delete a thread - does the originator have that authority? But I think we need to start fresh with the new congress and legislatures.
I don't know about you, but those long lists of emails are not really that helpful. We don't need all our state legislators, we only need OURS! Many people don't even know who their legislators are.
I'd rather have a single URL to go to where I type in my zip code and the site tells me who my legislators are. California has such a site and I think it will be much more useful. Other states probably do also. It will also save space on the list. How do others feel about this?
If we want an alphabetical list by state we'd have to wait for someone from Alabama to put their info up, etc. Maybe that won't work. Unless someone can put up placeholders and plug in the info when it becomes available. I guess whoever created the placeholder could modify it later.
How about that, Tincup? You could just Add Reply and Add Reply and Add Reply again to the thread until you had the whole list of states, then we could send you the info for our states to put in the slot.
People should refrain from making off topic comments on the list also, so it's just a list and nothing else.
My 2 bits!
Tincup, or whoever is directing this project, let me know how you want to do it.
Anyone who has already gone to the trouble of entering a bunch of info for 2007 should copy and save it in case the whole thread gets deleted for a fresh start - which I would recommend.

I forgot to mention the site where you can find your US legislators: http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/ It's so easy I don't think we should try to improve on it.

This is a resource list of the website you can go to in each state to find your State legislators.
Even if you have no Lyme legislation pending in your state right now, it pays to develop a relationship with your State Assemblyperson and Senator.
If anything comes up, you will already have a relationship, and your legislator will know something about Lyme. S/he will know Lyme is an important issue in your State if more than one person has written to him/her about it. -------------------- Phyllis Mervine CALDA www.lymedisease.org --------------------
