For the past 4 years I have been complaining of fatigue and flu-like symptoms, at the same time I noticed that my memory and concentration were impaired. (my doctor, after routine bloodwork, thinks I have depression since that comes back normal). Within the past 2 1/2 years I developed stiffness in the muscles of my neck and across the shoulders and upper back. My doctor initially attributed it to a buldging disc in my neck, a condition I have had for years. Despite going through pain management the muscle problems have gotten worse. I feel as if the muscles have pemanently tightened and no amount of exercises or stretching has been able to loosen them up or relieve the discomfort. The most recent diagnosis from my doctor has been polymyagia rheumatica. (I'm only 45)When I showed him a symptom list of lyme disease and pointed out other symtoms which I more recently developed such as irregular menses, swelling and pain in the knuckles and finger joints, unexplained bruising, cracking in the neck, muscle spasms in the eyelids, etc. He tested for Lyme which came back negative, thus end of story... I know that something is very wrong with me and I cannot get my doctor's attention. I also know that after 4 years and with new symptoms manifesting, I can't go on ignoring this. I suspect Lyme disease and if not I need to rule it out so we can at least explore other reasons for these symptoms. I need to find a doctor who treats Lyme patients near the Philadelphia, PA area. Can anyone make a referral??
