Hi, I just signed on after a month away and was shocked to read a post about Dr. H. Is this the Dr. H in New York? I never received anything in the mail about this--although if it's him, it's not a surprise, he's been miserable in his job for a long time. Please let me know what's up!

Hi Liz,
It's the one in Texas, not the one in New York.

Though I don't believe this is what effected Doc H in Texas, loosing doctors is a real threat in regard to the law we are trying to pass in NY.

Please do all you can to support the OPMC reform bill's passage into law.

If this bill isn't signed..this kind of thing will become a reality across the nation..

NEW from Ellen:

Hi folks,
Last week I got disturbing news about a behind the scenes attempt to
destroy the OPMC Reform bill. This attempt came from groups that we
had previously thought were on board.

It seems to be under control now, but it gives me a sense of just how
much of a threat there is to getting this bill passed into law.

So please, everybody, redouble your efforts to get people to urge
Governor Pataki to sign the bill.

Please use your creativity. Put the information out on any internet
medical groups you might belong to. Contact any civic or religious
groups you belong to.

WHAT YOU WANT PEOPLE TO DO:
1. Click here to email Governor Pataki: http://161.11.3.75/ Scroll to the middle of the page to send
Governor Pataki an email.

Write the message...
Please pass Bill #A4274b, for OPMC Reform.

2. Call Governor Pataki's office:
518-474-8390
Say... "Please pass the bill for OPMC Reform, A4274b"

3. Call Senator Kemp Hannon's office:
518-455-2200

Thank Senator Hannon for sponsoring the OPMC Reform Bill. Ask him to
please encourage Governor Pataki to sign the OPMC Reform bill.

4. Contact all your friends and family, no matter where they live and
whether or not they have Lyme, and ask them to do steps 1-3 above.

5. Go to the Headlines page of Lymenet www.lymenet.org Click on the
link for the OPMC Flyer. Print it out and distribute it. Make sure your
LLMD has a copy to give to his/her patients.

6. Join the Foundation for the Advancement of Innovative Medicine, FAIM.

This organization has paid the lobbyist who has worked with us for our
years and does a great deal to protect patients' access to care. Go to www.faim.org/benefits.htm
Print out the application and mail it in with your dues.

Thanks,
Ellen

Thank you Mo for the information. I was searching for this very sort of contact info in light of the news that my doctor is giving up his practice.

We Texans are not the first to lose a valuable LLMD. It is nice to have the opportunity to do something to help to insure that someone else does not lose his or hers. I think my time is better spent doing something constructive as opposed to wondering what factored into the decision or allowing myself to entertain any type of angry feelings towards someone who has given me a shot at real and lasting health just because his life path is taking him elsewhere.

I'm going to use my nervous energy to write a thoughtful letter telling Pataki how much treatment has helped me and how he has the power and the responsibility to help his constituents live healthy, happy and productive lives after Lyme.

BTW, the progress with Benicar and the MP is going very well. I've begun writing that up, but it's not ready to post yet and we're headed out of town.

Mo, which behind-the-scenes groups do you mean? Are these medical organizations?

Liz...I have never thought of Dr. H in NY as being miserable with his job! Maybe we aren't talking about the same Dr. H?

I have found him to be very invested in what he does, although the demands on our doctors are horrendous! If anyone finds a breakthrough in the treatment of lyme...I'd bet on him!!

Hope Pitaki will pay attention to our pleas, Mo!!
