I'm worried.

So far a positive Bowen test, a mass of equivocals on my Igenex test and a trip to J. Clinic in NC are my starting blocks. (Tincup made feel lots better about those equivocals.)

J Clinic said "probable" for lyme, but need positve WB, so put me on 1,000 mgs of Biaxin daily, later to do dot blot test.

At one point and with one dopey duck, I took 200 mgs of doxy daily. After two days I herxed so badly, I feared for my life.

Tried several times, same thing. If they didn't already know me so well the local ER, I would have gone. I quit and slowly got better.

Now on biaxin for three days. Lots of overall aches and pains, weird daytime dreams and vertigo worse but not like doxy. Strange depression though. Very tired.

What is going on? On biaxin, if I don't have a horrible herx like the doxy one does that mean I don't have lyme?

Sounds dumb doesn't it, but I am so very dumb about this disease.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

Hello, welcome to the Herx Club.

Sounds as if this is a herx to me.

My LLMD says that a Herx reaction is INTENSE Lyme symptoms that you have experienced in the past AND NEW INTENSE Lyme symptoms that you have never experienced before.

You asked, What is going on? On biaxin, if I don't have a horrible herx like the doxy one does that mean I don't have lyme? NO!!!

OK, now, has anyone given you these links? And, have you read through them? Here they are again...I'd surely bookmark them or put them into you favorites file so you can refer to them many times over.

Every ones response to different antibiotics, abx, is different. Some abx are more notoirous than others for giving bad herx reactions.

If you would like to do a search on Biaxin, you can follow these instructions and using Biaxin as the keyword and see what others have said in the past, click here. Remember that those are two different drugs, therefore your response to them can and probably is different. If you are taking abx, then it is working whether you are seeing the signs of it or not.

I hope that answers your question, keep reading,

Thanks Rosemary,
I needed that, you're right, it is a herx and I needed a little reasurance.

One weird thing though, since starting Biaxin (fourth day 1000 mgs) the skin on my legs is peeling. Little patches like after a sunburn and that transparent skin comes off. Doesn't hurt, not red, just patches of peel. Have you ever heard of such a thing?

Thanks again
Frances
