I am post-menopausal and have had lyme since 1996. Fortunately I am able to function without any abx at this point.

I have been seeing Dr. B in Long Island for the past several months and I have also seen Dr. S. the endo from KC through his office.

The results of Dr. S's Stim test showed that my pituitary is functioning in the normal range and do not need HGH. However through blood work she found that T3 and testosterone levels were low and prescribed compounded T3, Androgel ( for testosterone).
Since I told Dr. S. that I had some night sweats on occasion and suffered from vaginal dryness she also prescribed Prometrium ( progesterone) and Estrogel(for estrogen).
After reading the potential side effects etc. in the brochure that Dr. S gave me, I have a great deal of concern regarding Estrogel. I don't know if I should take this drug since I had a begnin breast lump removed in 1994,and have mild athsma and mild heart murmur. I made Dr. S aware of these things but she was not concerned. She told me that Estrogel has been used in Europe for 25 yrs. without too many problems. She said that Estrogel is a bioidentical drug similar to what Suzanne Summer refers to in her book the "The Sexy years.
Do you know of any studies that have been done on this drug?
The brochure states that it's a synthetic drug derived from a plant source. Can someone explain what this means?

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had experience with Estrogel and the other hormones I have been prescribed.

If you have a been a patient of Dr. S. please e-mail any comments regarding your experience with her treatment.
Thank you so much for your help!
