Hi all,
I just received my Igenex results from J. Clinic, and am a little confused. I tested positive for babesia, but regular lyme results, were still negative, although I did not get the specific IGG IGM results broken down.

Still awaiting dot blot results. I am so frustrated over continuing negative results, although they emphasize emphatically that LD is a clinical and not lab-supported diagnosis. Just hope insurance feels the same.

Dumbell question of the day:
Can you have babesia and not LD? I am so clueless, same tick, same infection right?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
lymelady

It is possible to have Babesia and not Lyme. But it is not common.

I knew a woman who had bartonella but not lyme, so anything is possible.

Go to www.bowen.org. Have your doctor call them. They will send a kit for the blood samples but they show you pictures of what is in the blood. I did all of the tests in 2000 including, PCR, (Igenex), MDL showed nothing, Peptide 6 babs no lyme, and the beat goes on.
I finally heard about Bowen Research Lab in FL. You can charge the $250 fee and they will send you a donation letter to take the amount off of your taxes. I had not only lyme but HME, HGE, and babesia. My husband and I use them about twice a year. They are the best. The Western Blot from Igenex is also good just for lyme.

Much wellness to you.

Thanks so much for replies.

I had the Bowen test which showed only lyme, then a bunch of equivocals on Igenex, except for positive babs result. I go to J. Clinic and just got results on babs yesterday.

I'm on biaxin which I can barely take without herxing so badly I have to quit after about three days, (stop awhile, then I start again) terrible falling down vertigo. I am wondering if I should call J. Clinic to ask them for meds for babs cuz so many folks say you have to treat coinfections first.

I can't seem to take any meds without horrible herxing which goes on and on. I do have an appointment with J. Clinic Nov. 1, but feel like I am wasting precious time not getting anywhere because I can't even get up to a full dose of biaxin a day.

All other lab work from J. Clinic was completely normal, liver function, etc.

Still waiting on dot blot from Ingenex (on meds) to try to get positive lyme labs.
Lyme disease is a misery!
Thanks,
Lymelady

Lymelady:

I would call and ask why you are not on babesia medicine since you have tested positive for babesia.

Thats just my thoughts. Also, what kind of biaxin are you on? I am on biaxin Xl and havent had TOO too much problems with it other than sometimes feeling like I cant breathe, etc.

I have HEARD that biaxin XL is much, much easier to tolerate.

Just a thought. They can add mepron to the biaxin, but I would really shoot for the Xl. Thats up to you though, just my opinion- and everyone has those!

thanks for replies

I am on Biaxin XL and my holistic doc had given me artesminin (sp)earlier in the game before J. Clinic, because he said frequently people have babs also with LD. I herxed from that also. Thinking of adding that. What do you think?

Artemisinin is good. When I saw Dr. B speak at Nationl Capitol Lyme meeting back in the spring he said artemisinin was good but should not be taken alone.

My assumption is that you can develop resistence.....but that is just my assumption.....you really need to ask the doc.....

I know your on Biaxin XL but I don't think that is a babesia med ...so I think he meant artemisinin with another babesia med such as mepron........

This is all a lay persons opinion, so don't start or stop your meds based on what I say....

Peace,
robi

Definitely call. The first 3 docs I saw, including Dr. J. immediately wrote Rx's for mepron. No harm in asking.
