HI,

Wondering who has a problem with this? The spaces too close together, pressing on nerves when there is inflammation.

Did treatment reverse the condition?
Thanks for responses.

Are you contemplating a fusion? Have you had a disectomy? Do you have Degenerative Disc disease?

Be VERY wary of Orthoducks. They LOVE steroids & generally know little if anything about how they effect Lymies.

There was a recent post about disc herniations, sciatica, & bb.

Hi what I meant was having the spine go together from inflammation and infection like in ankylosing spondylitis?

But not actually disagnosed.

My rheumie put in my chart something about this. I can't remember what he called it, but since my epidural I have spine stiffness and I have nerve pain in my back and leg. When I bend I can feel where the spine resists moving like the rest.

Exrays with the chiro last year said verterbra too close togther, and have curvature that isn't sciloiosi like I was told years before. I have lumbar curve too, where my stomach will be forward a bit, and the curve at low back.

LC, have you had an MRI of your spine? What was your epidural for?

Hey friend in Canada,
I had a C-3,4 fusion.
I do not doubt the need for the fusion. Large disk herniation. I believe the Lyme was the trigger.
Post op was a painful, burning experience.
Make sure ALL options are explored before any surgery.
MRI Mylogram etc.
Try natural anti-inflamatories and no steriods.
There is also a procedure called Prolotherapy that is less traumatic.
Check it out online.
Dr Hauser in Chicago.
Good luck and let me know.

I had a mri of my spine when things were not bothering me as much and didn't show anything. The epidural was for pregnancy and had a spinal for emergency c-section.

lymiecanuck,

I understand what you are saying about epidural. Has your chiro recommended any exercises or physical therapy to help elongate the spine and correct the curve?

There are some options I would look at before even considering a spinal fusion. I also have a friend going to Dr. Hauser for prolotherapy and will let you know how it goes. Prolotherapy can be very effective.

Also, I just saw your question about hydration. If you don't mind responding to that post.

Yucca plant is supposed to be a natural anti-inflammatory.

Also, MSM crystals 1000mg twice a day in addition to Vitamin C for inflammation etc. Some that I know have benefitted from it. You may want to check it out.

Peace and Blessings,
Maggie
