Has any one ever taken Difulcan for 25 days straight?

Eur J Med Res. 2004 Jul 30;9(7):334-6.
Clinical effects of fluconazole in patients with neuroborreliosis.

Schardt FW.

Betriebsarztliche Untersuchungsstelle, Bayerische Julius-Maximilians-Universitat, Wurzburg, Germany. [email protected]

Eleven patients with neuro-borreliosis had been treated with 200 mg fluconazole daily for 25 days after an unsuccessful therapy with antibiotics. At the end of treatment eight patients had no borreliosis symptoms and remained free of relapse in a follow-up examination one year later. In the remaining four patients, symptoms were considerably improved. At the end of therapy immune reactivity (IgM+) disappeared in three patients. Since borrelia spp. are almost exclusively localised intracellular, they may depend on certain metabolites of their eucaryotic host cell. Inhibition of P450 and other cytochromes by fluconazole may incapacitate Borrelia upon longterm exposure.

Yep. I'm around day 30 right now. I never had real neuro symptoms though. I've been feeling better lately, not sure if the diflucan is why.

Don't want to negate this "research". But ---

Betriebsarztliche Untersuchungsstelle, Bayerische Julius-Maximilians-Universitat, Wurzburg, Germany. [email protected]

"Betriebsaerztliche Untersuchungsstelle" is a place in Germany a person has to go to be examined when on medical disability before they can continue to be on disability.

So I myself would definitely take this with a grain of salt or rather consider the source.

On the other hand, I do wish it helps. We never took Diflucan and got well anyhow.

Thanks for the link-
Interesting that Mo is using virgin coconut oil (I do too- switching from virgin corn oil a few years ago) and I feed it to my horses too.

In any case- This article is about Difulcan killing Lyme (not Candida).. and I found that aspect interesting.

Why is Difulcan o exspensive I wonder?

I've now been on Diflucan for right at a month now. But, my mg I am taking is 100 daily.

I plan to be on it for at least another month. The only difference in anything that I can really tell is that my finger nails are growing much faster.

I am currently on Bicillin shots and haven't really had any problems, other than having to go off two weeks 'cause of herxing too bad. But, as far as having yeast problems, I've had none.

I am still having neuro problems, along with severe depression...taking Seroquel 400mg daily for that, but, can't see that it is helping.

I'm, also, on several harmones and take Trazadone for sleep, about 450mg or so, give or take a little.

IMO, that abstract did not have enough participants for it to be of any significance. That is just my opinion.

Maybe if I took 100mg more per day I'd see the results that they are talking about, but, I wouldn't count on it.

Hey Rosemary or anyone this might help,

Before I restart Doxy, I wanted to work on yeast.

100 mg of Diflucan never did anything for me.

So I took 200 mg of Diflucan and my energy popped up. I'm not saying I'm back at normal energy levels, but one of my big problems is no energy----not tired, simply NO ENERGY!

I had no clue yeast was a problem. The Difucan triggered left ear ache on 2nd day. I was shocked. That's kind of my barometer of yeast. I really thought my ear was so much better.

Don't know if yeast affects anyone else without them really knowing it. It was such a miracle or light bulb moment to see the change.

Naturally, now I'm out of Diflucan so I purchaed some A.D.P. Tablets by Biotics which is wild orgegano.

So I took l tablet and within 4 hours my teeth were hurting and later my face. So I had to use a hotgel pack.

But I have to realize, ADP Oregano is both anti-fungal, anti-viral & anti-bacterial (I think). So there is the million dollar question again.

What did the oregano hit? Probably all three things. It does get in spaces where there is little bloodflow, like the jawbone.

Anyway, never underestimate the power of yeast. (Don't know if Diflucan goes to the brain.)

Anyway, that's just what happened to me.

Take Care,
Jan

I took Diflucan for 5 weeks. It didn't touch the yeast or the Lyme when I was on orals. Changing my diet did though.

I now take Diflucan 3 days a week as maintenance.

Jan: I got a wicked earache when I took my Diflucan this weekend. Didn't make the connection. But, my yeast was a little worse last week. Also, I used the oil of oregano tincture and herxed my brains out. That stuff is really potent so, be careful and go slow. I took the recommended dose - probably should have started out on less.

Most people dont have a problem being on Diflucan for 25 days or more. It might be a good idea to get your blood checked to make sure you are not doing any damage to your liver.

I have had zero problems with diflucan except i think i may be immune to it.

I dont know what im doing wrong.

I have been off ABX for almost 3 weeks and im doing GREAT!!!

Then only thing thats bothering me is that female yeast thing. Im just always irritated down there.

Im on the strick diet, im taking freeze dried garlic by Pharmax, olive leaf, probiotics and have been taking diflucan.

I just dont know what to do.

I dont have any other symptoms of a yeast problem. My GI track is now finally happy since it has recovered from all of the ABX.

How long does it take for the yeast to be gone once you quit ABX?

The reason Diflucan is so expensive is that the general medical purpose is to take one pill to treat a vaginal yeast infection.

The cost per typical dose of Diflucan is not expensive if you compare it to over-the-counter creames. In fact, it's about $7, which is about a third of the price of Monistat.

We are taking it long-term, because we are taking it for another purpose. The pills are still priced as if a dose was one pill though.

Beachcomber:

Thanks for the warning. I've only taken 1 ADP Oregano beause I didn't want to spoil the weekend for my husband or me.

It'll be a long time before I can work up to 4 daily. Gosh, I can't even imagine the pain if I went full dosage from the start. It wouldn't be pretty!

Jordan:
You've probably already done this, but if I was you I might give the antifungal suppositories/cream-------whatever's easiest a try. I don't know which one is best. At least you'd be hitting it topically and feel like you're doing something to fight it off.

Bye,
Jan

When I took treatments last year, the doctor prescribed Diflucan three times a week just to keep yeast infections at bay. It did really well in that area, but it never once helped my lyme disease.

Hey, hey BPeck,

When I was taking the Diflucan (for well over 25 days)..there were effects that may have been also Lyme related, but..I was still
VERY co-infected with TBD's..

so I would guess that would impede any possibility of treating Bb with it.

The Coconut oil..has been wonderful. My three year old and I are on it around the clock..and it sure has done allot.

Tough to say exactly what..of what I have read ..it has multiple functions.
Anti-Candida, immune food (good lipids are the fuel immune system needs most), thyroid, regeneration and on.

I don't think I'll ever stop taking that.

Jan,

Yes, i have tried suppositories. Actually, my LLMD had me on one a week ago and it cleared me up, but for only three days. I dont have any discharge, its just a irriation like feeling.

What do you exactly do with the coconut oil?

I bought a bottle by Gardren of Life and thought i could put some on a brown rice cake.
