I have just recently tested positve for lymes, two tests were given- Western Blot, and another- I think it starts with an S.

For two years I have been feeling off balance, have seen floaters, my ears ring 24/7, and also headaches. A few months ago I noticed muscle weakness, tingling in various areas, increasd arythmias, and muscle twitches everywhere.

Also, in addition to fatigue, anxiety attacks throughout the day and night.

My Dr. put me on Doxy. for a week, I got sick, so he switched me to Amoxycillan for another 2 weeks.

I saw him today and told him my symptoms have increaesed. He says it is not the lyme, but anxiety. He gave me scripts for lexopro and Adivan to sleep.

He also referred me to a neorologist, who wants to do an MRI.

I asked if I should be on long term antibiotics and he said, no.

Advice??

WELCOME To LYMENET

Here's more goodys! A typical response to newcomers.

Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead.

Post for a LLMD in Seeking a Doctor. Ps remember I am not a Dr, just a fellow sufferer.

Hi,

Wrote this email about 2 hours ago. I went hunting for my password and got sidetracked. Sorry so late.

The other test was probably an Elisa. You were most likely positive since most of the time they won't even run the Western Blot if the Elisa is not positive.

You've got Lyme Disease. Seems like you've had it a while too.

By getting worse with antibiotics, you are showing a classic jarish-herxheimer like reaction. We call it a "herx". That's when your symptoms increase or you experience new symptoms while being treated for Lyme Disease.

You need longer treatment. You need to find a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor (LLMD). You'll probably end up spending more money for these docs but in the long run, it's well worth it.

Go to "Seeking a Doctor" and one of the wonderful people from this sight will give you a list of the closest LLMDs to your area.

The doctors that know about this disease are few and far between. You may have to travel. Once again, it's well worth the trip. You'll get as much treatment as you need instead of as much treatment as some unseen entity has pre-decided you should get.

Another reason to see a LLMD is that you may have a coinfection which is one or more of a group of other diseases that can be spread along with Lyme. They know about those too.

Best of luck,

Corgilla

Corgilla,
Thank You so much for your replying. It is refreshing to communicate with others who understand and know it's not just "nerves".
Thanks again and God Bless.
Toni

Hi Toni,

ITS NOT YOUR NERVES! What a goofball, typical doctor... don't believe a word he tells you.. same thing happened to me in the beginning and thank goodness I didn't listen to his diagnosis.. Find a good doctor, and be on your way to getting better.. Unfortunately it usually gets a little worse before you get better.. You sound like you have alot of the same symptoms that I had in the beginning.. Take care... Stephanie

Welcome!
Glad you found us here!
From what you posted it sounds like you havent been treated properly. Your doses were more than likely too small, and the amount of time you took the antibiotics is grossly inadequate. You must get prompt treatment and be tested for co-infections asap.
I have a website with Lymelinks here.
If you need help finding a Lyme doctor email me, or if you have any questions!
You will get though this, the good news is you are starting on the right track now...lets get you on treatment!
