Apologies to all about being so late with this update. And thanks for all who worked to get this bill through the legislature by writing and calling.
The following update is from Pat Smith, from last Wednesday. "The legislature continued to meet over last weekend, and I have heard from our sources there that state senators said they were quite impressed by the volume of communications they received, indicating they had not been subject to so much communications in such a short time period before. Unfortunately, the time left in the senate session was short, despite the extra days tacked on over the weekend. However, even after the session ended for the year on Sunday, sources there continued talks with strategic officials for legislation in the new year. "
Although the bill did not pass this session, in other words, it ain't over till it's over. Ellen

Sigh....I'm bummed..... but not surprised, as it passed House so late into the session. So excited to hear that our squeaky wheels were making noise!!
My thanks to all those who worked so hard on this. It is so encouraging to see you guys aren't planning to give up in PA.
Could you elaborate on when and how the bill died. (Did it ever get assigned to the Senate, or did it get to the Senate but not voted on?) Does anyone know if the new senator of PA (Rendell) would have signed it had it passed?
I want to put myself out there as an activist, to be hands on next session to help this pass. Who can I call to volunteer my efforts? As you can see I'm right here in Harrisburg, if that makes any difference or not...
Thanks again for posting Pat Smith's message. Good work all.
