Hello to everyone and Happy Holidays!
I've noticed that my urine has grown a very dark yellow lately. I'm on Rocephin and Flagyl along with all the supplements. I had to double up on Milk Thistle because my liver functions are elevated. Could that cause the change in color or is it something else?
Thanks, as always!

Babesia makes your urine dark. As do other things I'm sure.

Hey Jean,

Sorry, I owe you an e-mail. Hope things are getting easier now.

I looked up Flagyl in "The Pill Book" and it says this med can cause "darkening of the urine" and to tell your doctor.

Lenny is right about Babesia.

But also, the liver can cause dark urine. It seems if that were the case with you, your eyes would be jaundiced (yellow).

I know because I was hospitalized with yellow eyes due to drug-induced cholestatic jaundice at age l8. It went away on its on. They really didn't know the true cause-----it was a guess.

I suppose only your doctor could tell you for sure what's causing this. Hope you find out something.

Take Care,
Jan

Does increased H20 effect this? Do you go to the bathroom more or less frequently?
What does your LLMD?

I think I'm going to the restroom less than before- I haven't spoken to my LLMD yet. Should I?

Flagyl will discolor your urine. If you read the information that comes from the pharmacy when you pick up your prescription, it says so in there somewhere.

There is a subtle difference between dark yellow urine which may just be concentrated because you aren't drinking enough water... and urine that is more of an iced tea color.

Make sure you are drinking plenty of water, and call your Dr's office about this ASAP.

Flagyl is hard on a person. Maybe you will need to back off a little on the dose for the sake of your liver. My experience with Flagyl is that a little goes a long ways.
