Sorry....I just need to vent. I posted the other day that I was starting to feel much better after being on Biaxin/ Cillin combo for going on my 2nd month ( 4 1/2 months total with various abx) Had several pretty good days in a row which I haven't had in a long time and then.... 'wham' today's been like one of my worst days ever. This is one hideous disease. It always helps to post here. Thanks for listenin'

maybe it's a herx. My son's herx used to last about a week & he had to take pain killers to get thru it.

Yes....it very well could be a herx and I'm praying they would get further and further apart. Hope your son's doing better.

Sorry you're not feeling well. Unfortunately, with LD there are lots of ups and downs.
Sometimes it's caused by a herx, but sometimes it isn't.
If you're under ANY kind of stress or lacking in sleep you will feel more like crap than anyone without LD.
The way it was explained to me by the doc was that LD puts such a load on your immune system that the minute it gets side tracked to help you deal with other issues (such as stress, colds, etc.) you wind up feeling like someone knocked you over with a baseball bat.
You're very right, Lyme IS one hideous disease.
Hang in there!!!!! You need to concentrate on those good days because if they happened once, they'll happen again.

Hang in there Dave. I'm just learning how devastating the treatment can be. Take it one second at a time and surround yourself with people who love you! Blessings, Marblenose

Thanks for your nice replies. Yes, I'm in the throws of a nasty flair or herx. I'm in bed today....you would have never known it if you'd seen me all last week. I was the (semi) picture of health. Just trying now to get thru this latest one. Thanks again.

So is it a cycle during tratment or is it a cycle for the rest of our lives?
Are we ever free from sx for more than a few days or weeks?

yes, hang in there..Ihave mostly good days now..about 1 or 2 semi bad days a month.
i have one remaining symptom out of 36 when I started seeing my llmd 2 years ago..through slow process of multiple oral abx treatment for lyme, bart and babs, along with alternative therapies along the way, I"m about 95% better, adn most of my days are normal.
So htere is a light at the end of hte proverbial tunnel..it's a slow process...but you can get there...building hte immune system..walk when you can, stay away from sugar, yeast and alcohol...biggies....
but hang in there..it does improve...slowly but surely.

Know how you feel cause when they come on bad I still ask "is this a herx or am I dying". Sometimes it's obvious and sometimes I just can't figure it out. That's lyme for ya. That's why we need more lyme literate doctors as my treatment has been from GP's and I have been on my own to try and figure it out.
