Hi, everybody.

Dr. H has sent out letters to all his Healthnet patients, saying he has been dropped as a preferred provider.

Does this mean that if he writes prescriptions, Healthnet will no longer cover them, or just that his patients have to pay a higher fee when visiting his office?

Also, does anyone know when this new insurance policy will take effect?

prescriptions cost the same regardless who writes them. you will have to pay a higher office visit fee though.

i'm sure the policy starts with the new year but you can call the number on the back of your healthnet card and inquire within.

Thank you so much, Zipzip. Hope you're right...

Looks like we are getting the fallout from the Pataki veto already.

Hiya,
Yuck!! I'm really sorry this is happening.

Healthnet would have to answser your questions directly.

Dr. H. has always tried to take insurance, but. as with many of our docs, insurance companies dropping them from their panels is something they can't control.

Much as I would like to blame Pataki's veto on this, I'm not sure it's so, since Healthnet would have had to have set this in motion before anyone knew that Pataki would veto.

BUT, for sure the reasons our doctors in general are dropped from insurance panels has to do with a general attack against the whole concept of chronic Lyme disease.

I keep going back to Gandhi's statement, First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.

I think that since we have become organized as a grass roots force, we have entered the period of their fighting us ---- and are on the cusp of winning.

But, in the meantime, I'm really sorry that you have lost your coverage for Dr. H.
