Since I started taking metronidazole/zithro/flucanazole I have noticed (among other things) that my motion sickness has become extreme and my sense of smell has become heightened, to put it mildly.

Anyone else have this happen?

kind regards,
ladyhawk

Yeast, yeast, and more yeast.

Antivert or meclizine (which you can buy otc - it's the main ingredient in Dramamine) will help with the motion sickness.

I had this happen too. I couldn't even walk into a room that had a newspaper in it.

20 days of Diflucan cleared it right up. If you don't have access to it, try Oil of Oregano www.youngliving.com (but go slow on dosage - build up to 3 drops a day).

Hi Julie,

I take oil of oregano, it is very good...

I take the regular kind, not the essential oil. I did read that the essential oils should not be taken internally, but have also read that they can be... if the person knows what they are doing... has to be good kind.

I wonder how different Young living oregano oil is compared to something like... North American Herb and Spice?

I only take 2-3 drops a day... twice a day... and it is good.

I jut bought about 3-4 months supply of a brand called Joy of the Mountain, it is quite good, have used a few different brands.

Too bad, I would have like to try Young Living...

I was told by a doctor that high doses of
B-6 can be effective for motion sickness. It's interesting that your sense of smell is so heightened, this happened to me when I was using DMSA to detox mercury and other metals. I could actually tell what kind of engine was in the car beside me without looking and any trace of exhaust was strong to me.

I've been told by doctors that we become adapted to carrying heavy loads of toxins and often our sense become dulled, so I reasoned I was wiping away the junk and revealing my healthy sense of smell. But who knows? Those are serious drugs with unpredictable side-effects, it could just be that or it could be some kind of herx or "things moving around".

The antifungals you're taking could be killing fungi like aspergillus which are commonly found in the nasal cavities. It is weird though isn't it? I've been there, I was like a canary in a coal mine for a long while.

Merry Christmas!

Thanks to all of you for taking the time to answer me.

It is very curious to have both of these things ocurring at the same time and so abruptly.

I can not get Oil of Oregano here. I will continue using the flucanazole (diflucan).

The reason I am not taking dramamine (I have lots of it) is that I am taking so many other things that I do not want to add one more chemical.

The motion sickness is exactly like you said, I can't look at a newspaper either. My head feels like it is swinging and dipping and standing, walking, sitting (almost all movement) is really interesting these days.

I thought I might have low blood pressure so I started taking it with my pressure cuff and it is not terribly low.

And the smells, it's funny how they are so strong they make me want to heave. Thought about using a close pin, haven't ruled it out completely!! Desperation makes one do some pretty strange things!!

I wish you all wonderful holidays and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!
kind regards,
Ladyhawk
