I had Lyme in 1995 and, thankfully, got rid of it in the very early stages.
I was bitten by a regular dog tick back in the middle of June, and even tho I was on alert for symptoms, none seemed to appear.
Since Thanksgiving, tho, I've experienced odd feelings in my left shoulder and right elbow.
Has anyone heard if it is possible to observe symptoms after that amount of time, and can Lyme reoccur after many years of health in the way that Polio pops up?
thanks for any input

yes lyme can "reappear". if the tick you were bit with this summer was infected then your bacterial load of borrelia, the agent of lyme disease, would have increased.
your immune system may not be able to handle the new burden, if you were re-infected.
i would rule out all other possibilities concerning your arm pain first, probably with a good ortho.
but i would discuss this with your gp and see if a 2 week trial of doxcycline clears up the symptoms as well.

Two weeks of doxy to clear up the symptoms? Interesting, indeed.
Apothe, I hope you don't leave the board and keep researching it a bit better.
As you will find out, 2 weeks of doxy is like blowing on a flys wings. Its not gonna do a darn thing but knock it around a little bit.
Not to mention, Lyme may not be the only bacteria you are infected with from a single tick bite.
Sorry, I couldnt leave this post alone. Two weeks of doxy? Give me a break.

WELCOME To LYMENET
Here's more goodys! A typical response to newcomers.
Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead.
( No you don't always see a bite and if there's no bullseye the only way your going to be able to tell is (symptoms) and (((Maybe))) WB or lyme dot blot 3 day urine banged with abx's to free your antigens up for the test. ) See this ( . )thats the size of the larva stage tick... Next nymph size... ( * ) Next is adult ( o ) to ( 0 ) Pretty small????? HUH
And thanks for your reply. Here's another question for ya. Does it matter what kind of tick bites you? The first time, back in '95 was by one of those the size of a pin head and flesh colored. The one last June was the larger what I call dog tick which I found completely bloated on my side of the bed.
namaste,
Rose
