I have been going to anEN who said today that we should biopsy then cauterize this ulceration. I have had it for around a year. I think I had it pre-lyme.

My LLMD said to go to the ENT, which I did.
The ENT of couse wants to send it to a pathology lab. My LLMD wants it to go to MDL for Lyme PCR.

When I called MDL they said they cannot do the pathology but they could do the Lyme PCR.

This is a small ulceration and I don't know if there will be enough to send samples to 2 labs.

Both types of tests seem important. Since it was pre-lyme,, I am wondering what the chances of finding lyme by PCR are?

Don't really know what to do about this......looking for suggestions.

tough call. can't the pathology lab check for bb anyhow?

since you're already dx'd with lyme, i would send the biopsy to look for any other foreign invaders, including fungus and yeast.

and make sure they do a susceptibility test so if they find an infectious agent you know what treatments are best for that infection.

best of luck....

Thank for the idea of susceptibilty test...I wouls ever have though of that.....didn't even know they could do that.

As fas as pathology doing test for BB, I guess they could but we know how "regular" labs do with finding BB. SO I am not sure it would be wrth it to have them do it....probably would be negative anyway. ALl my blood with standard labs was negative.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

......I am thiking of not doing anything. Its a bit painful to go through this procedure and well...... I, as we all do, have enough of that already.

(Same old RECEIPGIRL)

Hi Robi,

Sorry don't have specific answers to your questions.

My husband with LD had sores inside the nose for a long time. The LL/FNP ordered a culture & sensitivity test on it.

It returned "Staph"; can't remember what kind of staph. It was not the resistant kind ----MRSA (Methyl Resistent Staph Aureus.)

His staph was resistent to many ABX, but was sensitive to Augmentin.

My husband also noted in the past, when he was on Armour Thyroid which stimulates immunity-----the sores disappeared.

You've worked so hard to get well. Hope everything goes smoothly for you.

Best Wishes,
Jan

Perhaps coagulate negative staph?

Starphoenix----

No, she didn't say coagulate negative staph.

I can't remember now. It was Staph something??

Yes, I'm having short-term memory problems; I didn't write it down because I just knew I'd remember it. Oh well.

Bye,
Jan

I have coagulase negative staph in my nose but my ENT says that is common. He still doesn't kow why the ulceration would not heal.

I used two weeks of bacitracin ointment (OTC) and it did heal but when I stopped the ointment the sore came back in 3 or 4 days.
