Could it be that three sisters, all in our 40's, two of our children have been diagnosed with lyme by different doctors, all of us having symptoms to a different degree? One has burning neck, headaches, on and off mental fog, has been treated for countless years. The other has had "fibromyalgia" since in her 20's, now tests positive, me having mental confusion, joint pain, word search at times, v-tac (irregular heart rhythm, somehow different from supraventricular tachychardia), my neice having babesia (she's 14), odd symptoms and my son since he's age 7 (he's going on 10) joint pain, arthritic symptoms, seeing flashes(used to be blue, now red). We're all on treatment. I feel mentally as if I have amnesia to all feeling, identity..Im on IV rocephin but my mind has been on real identity vacation since I flagylled a few weeks ago and was on zithromax. I'm off the zithromax for a while to see if I can regain some marbles and I was in the hospital for low sodium. My son, thank God isn't as bad mentally. Any opinions? My sisters think it's coincidence, my mom passed away a few years back - my dad has had prior strokes, but he's otherwise in ok shape.
Appreciate any feedback.

A lot of families are infected.
WELCOME To LYMENET
Here's more goodys! A typical response to newcomers.
Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead.
( No you don't always see a bite and if there's no bullseye the only way your going to be able to tell is (symptoms) and (((Maybe))) WB or lyme dot blot 3 day urine banged with abx's to free your antigens up for the test. ) See this ( . )thats the size of the larva stage tick... Next nymph size... ( * ) Next is adult ( o ) to ( 0 ) Pretty small????? HUH

It is possible. Family usually spends time together and is under similar environmental risks. Infectivity of Lyme within family from one person to another is poorly investigated but also possible. Yet, the most likely (it is unproven however) way of transmitting the disease is through sex. Posts: 1538 | From Planet Earth | Registered: Jan 2005

Yes, I'd say it's very possible. New York is a hot bed for Lyme. Don't know how far upstate you are but this disease is spreading. Some people think Westchester is upstate NY. That's where the highest amount of new cases are being reported.
I used to live in Rochester, NY and a dog had picked up a tick while visiting downstate. I walked in to my friend's kitchen to find a bunch of people huddled around the dog. There was an engorged dog tick. No one knew what it was except me.
Now, I see that there is a growing incidence of new lyme cases in Buffalo. Whether we like it or not, the disease is out there and moving quickly.
Doctors who treat Lyme are seeing a large amount of families who are all infected. There are all kinds of theories but only a few have been studied. There have been discussions here about family infection. You can use the search link to check some out.
