i have finally reached a positive wb. from igenex both IGG , And IGM , were pos. however i know that i have had ebstein barr virus active quite often. I have read somewhere that this ebv can give you a false pos. are certain bands cased specifically by lyme and wound never show up elswise? It took me long enough to reacch a diagnosis that i continue to question everythig.as crazy as it sounds i hope that i truely have lyme! proof that i am not crazy , and an opponet to fight is what i need!! a fight with no enemy is a fight that is impossible to win! the unknown is making me nuts!

Just so you know, it is possible to have both lyme and epstein barr. See abstract below:

Since the possibility of interruption of latent EBV infection has been suggested by the induction of the lytic virus cycle with chemical substances, other viruses, and by immunosuppression, we hypothesized that the same effect might happen in B. burgdorferi sensu lato infection as happens in Lyme disease patients with positive serology for both agents. We have observed EBV replication in lymphoblastoid cells after superinfection with B. garinii and B. afzelii strains after 1 and 4 h of their interaction. We found that viral and borrelial antigens persisted in the lymphoblasts for 3 and 4 days. Morphological and functional transformation of both agents facilitate their transfer to daughter cells. Association with lymphoblasts and internalization of B. garinii by tube phagocytosis increased replication of viruses more successfully than B. afzelii and chemical inductors. Demonstration of such findings must be interpreted cautiously, but may prove a mixed borrelial and viral cause of severe neurological disease.

I have active epstein-barr and lyme. Ask your doctor to get you a perscription for rantidine, generic of little purple pill for acid reflux (ohhh, I'm not a doctor--this is what my doctor perscribed to me and it helps). Ask for the rantidine and take it 4 times a day. Also, see if you can get that pill people with herpies takes (you see it on t.v. all the time). Epstein Barr is a type of herpis so this medicine helps too. I take the generic knock off of both pills.
You get active epstein barr when your immune system is compromised and that is what the lyme does.
Have you had your thyroid checked?
