my mom has had symptoms for 5 years since my dad died and i am starting to wonder if it is lyme or sympathy symptoms from my dad. he dies of esophagus cancer about 5 years ago, but i think she may have got lyme the same time i did. her docs even a llmd in balto ran a batteyr of tests all negative. here are her symptoms, not all at once but they rotate on and off. 1) for several years she would get sevre fluid in the back of her through making her gag and cough for 5 days to 3weeks constantly. 2) the next symptoms which has been there all along is severe depression, could be from my father's horrible death. 3) the newest symptom is food getting stuck at the valve between the esophagus and the stomach causing a lump in her throat and then vomitting. 4) at this point these are the main symptoms that we know about there may be more but she doesn't tell us. 5) she was in arizona twice and got "desert fever twice" or was it a manifestation of lyme, she tested negative for desert fever at Hopkins, i know big deal.the worst treatment center in the country, but she doesn't listen to me. she has agreed to go to my new llmd in ft. lauderdale only because he's 5 minutes from the casino, but at least its a start. my feeling is that she may have chronic lyme, they never ran pcr's, they don't even know what they are. i think she has cranial nerve damage at maybe 8 or 9 posibly 10 that is causing most of these symptoms. they did every test is the book and all negative id, pulmonary, endoscope, pulmonary scope and bx. whats youse all think? got toos talk liike a souner now since eyes moved dawn soth.

Doc, good idea on the LLMD.
I had the swallowing problem as well and caused awful sore throats trying to expel the lump sensation, which was merely a sensation.
A Gastro MD was perplexed after doing Upper GI, endo, etc. LLMD said this sensation is common with lYme and admonished me not to try to cough to clear the lump.

Good that you are getting her to a LLMD!
BAD that you are sitting in Florida while I am here getting a face full of snow!
