My husband was diagnosed with Lyme 2 years ago July.He had the bullseye rash. For the last 2 winters, when we go on vacation ( a week), in Gulf Shores, Alabama ( we live in Michigan) he gets the rash back, usually a half dozen rings or so. Has anyone ever heard of this? What causes it? It really bothered him this year because the Dr. Was considering taking him off medicine as he was doing so well. Other then the rash coming back he doesnt get any other symptoms.

I had late stage untreated Lyme for about 27 years before I found out what it was and was treated.

Originally infected by suspected blood transfusion, so I never had the classic bullseye rash.

But over the years I did have several bouts of circular flat lesions (sometimes they looked 'under' the skin) and sometimes they seemed to be brought on by UV exposure, sometime not. They never itched.

I have been off abx for over a year, and doing very well (no symptoms),
then several months ago when these lesions occurred again (without any other symptoms) and by process of elimination - after several months with the rash - went back on abx.. and the rash is receeding.

I guess he could try different topical creams on it - but DO NOT get talked into oral prednesone..
cuz it just might be Lyme.
Lyme can manifest in the skin especially if it's a late stage case.

Two summers ago I had a ring rash on the back of my neck and several jagged dots around my waisteline. This was before I knew about lyme.

Doc diag as ringworm, but I thing it was lyme. I've looked at pictures since then and it looks so similar.

Since then, I've had smaller spots, not as noticable, usually near a joint that has been hurting.
