I guess the lyme is back from remission now after I had tx with 3 1/2 mo. of IV rochephin, max. dose with flagyl last year.
I also had found out I had a b-12 deficiency which had caused much of my neuro symptoms in my peripheral nerves. My LLMD is scheduled a PCR test from Igenex which I have never taken after 2 + WB's. I guess to see how to proceed. I'm scared at this point because I had felt so much better in the last 2 to 3 months and now this.
I sure hope she can do something. Does anyone know what she hopes to find out from the PCR besides if the bacteria is there, will it show how much bacteria is there? will it be able to tell her which treatment to use? thanks for any help or suggestions at this point...I guess the results will take 2 weeks and I will see the doc on 4/5...My mind is foggy but if there are certain ?'s I'm not thinking of to ask, suggestions are wanted..

one doc says I've had lyme since birth and one thinks for 12 years, bitten by a tick. I had IV therapy one year ago for 3 1/2 mo. 4 gr. rocephin 4 days week, 3 mo. and then 1 gram, 5 days week, flagyl other days..
I did okay on it, flayl was worse for me than rocephin always.

It doesnt sound as if you ever treated for coinfections. For us, that has been critical. I've done long-term IV rocephin plus flagyl several years ago -- without treating coinfections, I relapsed within the year.

PCR is looking for DNA, and is very specific. Do you know what your doc is testing for -- Bb, babesia, bartonella? Here is the Igenex discussion of PCR: http://igenex.com/lymeset5.htm Note that if they don't find the DNA, it doesn't mean that you don't have the bug -- just that there wasn't any DNA in the sample that they ran. So it's pretty much a confirmed positive with PCR, but not a confirmed negative.

Has she talked to you about any of the other coinfections?

Are you OK on yeast? Checked for metals?

The order says Lyme PCR, I was tested in NJ lab for coinfect. last year and they were all -. I haven't been retested that I know of. Unless she's tested I'll ask her when I go back. Her next move was this PCR, she said the antibody tests would always be +. Mine were always + on both IgG and IgM..for whatever reason that would be.
I'm not sure how this will help her decide the treatment.? I'm feeling so bad with fever and foggy brain, sensitive hearing, achy, sore eyes and everything..everything tastes terrible too. Stomach issues..
