Hi Loverell,

You might want to be sure & tell your doctor about the heart thing. Anything to do with the heart, probably needs to be checked out by your doctor or even Emergency Room, if needed.

Lyme can affect the heart in many different ways. You can always ask for an EKG or the doctor may want to do an echocardiogram.

Marnie on Lymenet has written a great deal of information about Magnesium. If you go to Treepatrol's Newbie Links-----Marnie has a lot of information there.

Co-Q10 by Tishcon or Pure Encapsulations is suppose to be excellent for the heart & provide energy. (Can't take it with Mepron through)

It's my understanding that magnesium helps regulate the heartbeat. It takes Magnesium to relax the heart and calcium for the heart to contract.

It's good to take Magnesium Citrate because it's so absorbable. I use this form made by Nutricology in capsules & follow directions on label.

If you want to use Calcium, I understand that "calcium hydroxyapatite" capsules are one of the most absorbable forms.

Try to take your Mag and Calcium several hours away from each other as they compete for absorption.

If you want a guide to a basic daily nutritional foundation, here's list to review:

I've yet to see a perfect vitamin & mineral supplement. If you used these vitamins, I'd start with 1 packet daily because the Vit. E. is 800 i.u. which is a lot to start with.

Starting with high dose vit. E 800 i.u. raises blood pressure------not good for anyone.

I'd take l packet for a couple of weeks containing 400 i.u. of Vit E. and then add the 2nd packet of supplements when I felt ready.

Most folks detoxify when starting on new comprehensive supplements. Go slow & ramp up gradually.

It really comes down to taking what your own body needs, yet most vitamins & minerals need to be taken together working in harmony. This give them a chance to work synergistically in the body.

I do have to say if you take these vitamins, there is a separate Energy Essential capsule with magnesium and potassium. They seemed to help me with energy.

You can take up to a total of 8 capsules daily of the Energy Essentials divided throughout the day, so it was hard keeping those in the house------everyone liked them.

I think the cutting edge of nutrition is using plant-based supplements. Perhaps others can help you with that.

If you go to the health food store, try to find a good brand. It usually takes several capsules to get one serving of all the nutrients required. One-a-day vitamins are not enough.

You may have to purchase extra bottles of magnesium citrate, essential fatty acids, etc.

As I'm sure you've read many times, it's best to take supplements at least 2 hours away from ABX.

Hope this helps and take care of your heart.

Best Wishes,
Jan

Cutting edge nutrition is coming from the sea...

Careful with Vitamin E...recent research indicates...

"Vitamin E Harms More Than It Helps
Supplement No Help for Cancer, Heart, Stroke -- but Increases Heart Failure Risk

March 15, 2005 -- Vitamin E harms more than it helps, a large study shows."

Research to find the entire article.

Vitamin E is one of the fat soluable vitamins. It is STORED if excessive doses are taken and not needed. The water soluable vitamins are eliminated in about 2 hours...far safer.

Marnie, I think it would help everyone if you would provide the link to your Updated Nutshell every time you mention it.

The search function is frequently dysfuctional and folks may not be able to find your nutshell. I saw that it is now brought to page 1, so that's good!
